New Middle East War Thread - Reports & Discussion Unless The Crisis Escalates

Routine air defense drills by the Iraqi Armed Forces are behind Iraq's latest NOTAM. No link to Iran. Flight paths were changed slightly. The temporary airspace restrictions run Nov. 7 to 11, daily from 0500 to 1100 UTC. Aircraft at Baghdad, Erbil, Sulaimaniyah and Kirkuk must follow mandatory flight corridors and air traffic control radar vectors.

BREAKING: Iran is now distributing iodine tablets to communities within a two to three kilometer radius of its sensitive nuclear facilities over fears of a US nuclear attack, a Health Ministry official confirms to The Times.

"Yes, we are distributing iodine. Trump can no longer be trusted. He may go through with this crime," the official said.

"Everyone knows that very little time remains. If America does not use a nuclear weapon against Pickaxe Mountain, it will be a miracle," an Iranian analyst with close ties to the IRGC said.

Senior figures across the government, the IRGC and the regular armed forces expect Pickaxe to be among the principal targets of the coming war.

Iraq activated nuclear emergency plans and border radiation monitoring yesterday.

Just keep in mind "The Hormuz Letter" has been considered n outlet of the Iranian govt. to sort of stir up things.
Also, It has been denied via one source:

negotiations. He has held near-daily talks with Qatari and Pakistani mediators and proposed resuming direct negotiations with Tehran. Trump is allowing diplomacy to continue, though U.S. forces remain ready for renewed strikes. Progress has reportedly been slow.

Regarding the Iran Iodine Pills story, They did issue them in April:

That particular distribution started in 2025 before the 12 Day war.

The deputy for health at Bushehr University of Medical Sciences said the distribution began prior to the 12-day war in June 2025 based on a decision by the national crisis management headquarters, according to the state-run Young Journalists Club (YJC).

Is the distribution that is currently being reported the same or a new round of distribution?

Middle East: Americans currently in the Middle East should exercise heightened vigilance due to the increased threat of armed attacks by Iranian-supported Houthis and Iranian efforts to target U.S. government officials in the region. Trump says U.S. carried out ‘minor strikes’ on Iran as missiles hit Qeshm Island

KEY POINTS
  • President Donald Trump said the U.S. carried out “minor strikes” on Iran after reports that two missiles struck Qeshm Island.
  • Trump did not explicitly confirm that the U.S. strikes he described were the reported strikes on Qeshm Island.
  • The U.S. also struck Qeshm Island on Monday, in what a U.S. official described as a “defensive measure.”

I saw what looked like several large broadcasts at ELF, which is what is used to communicate with submarines. After that, there was a long time where it only made a noise similar to what I can describe as a dial-up modem. I've never heard anything before on that frequency. It was definitely bizarre.
It is theoretically possible to send a data stream over radio bands. Some amateur radio operators do it all the time. But ELF frequencies are really not conducive to that use. It takes several minutes just to send three-character sequences to the subs. Since each letter is approximately one byte in size, the speed could be measured in bytes per minute. I imagine the packet loss would be bad enough to make it almost useless. So I'm not sure why that would be attempted, unless they have some new secret compression technology. If you hear that again, try to record it and send it to me. Back in my dial-up internet tech support days, I could listen to a modem establishing a connection and tell you what speed it connected at and which protocol it was using just by the sounds it was making.

BREAKING: IRAN PUTS 15 EUROPEAN MILITARY BASES IN ITS MISSILE CROSSHAIRS.

None of Iran's ballistic missiles - that we know about - are capable of that kind of range. Poland, Romania... maybe, with a strong tailwind and the assistance of several unladen European Swallows, and only if launched from the absolute most northwestern point in Iran. Ramstein, Sigonella, and Fairford? Not even close.

Caveat: This is based on their known missile capabilities. Maybe they have a new one with increased range?

Edit: This might be more accurate than I originally thought. There was the ballistic missile attack on Diego Garcia earlier this year, which Iran denied being behind. But if that attack did originate in Iran, that means they have a missile with double the range of their best existing missile, a jump from 2,200 kilometers to 4,000 kilometers. So, possible, but still questionable.
