For fear of drawing the wrath of @RiffRaff , sometimes I truly wonder if there is some "there, there" when it comes to destruction of food
growers and producers.

Not sure what you mean by "there, there" in this context, but I'm fairly sure no sane (or even borderline insane) government would waste intelligence assets on sabotaging agricultural targets.

Conspiracies abound concerning the number of food processors, growers, etc. destroyed in the recent past. I'm no conspiracy theorist, but after awhile, the numbers start to catch my interest.

I read somewhere that some farmers chickens stopped laying eggs and when they switched out the feed they started laying again. Let see if I can find a link.

Now I don't raise chickens (yet) but I have a tendency to believe the actual people who do. I do know that the big producers of chicken feed are going to spin it as a conspiracy theory and maybe it is. I don't know.

Here is the other side of this debate.

FACT FOCUS: Egg shortage breeds chicken-feed conspiracies

But poultry experts say there’s no evidence for such claims. Some backyard chicken owners may have separately found their chickens underperforming, but experts say the issues are unrelated.
Experts say there are far more mundane explanations for the poultry’s meager production.

You be the judge.

Here's the main way this matters to the United States: New Zealand is in an anglophone intelligence alliance ("the Five Eyes") with Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the U.S. Any regime this obeisant to China must be removed from the Five Eyes intelligence alliance.

The Five Eyes alliance is the world's most capable intelligence-sharing collective. These allies share all but the most sensitive intelligence material they have collected. Unfortunately, it is now a running joke in the U.S. intelligence community that New Zealand's membership in the alliance might as well entail inviting Beijing into the alliance.

Alliances are ultimately built on trust. At their pinnacle, they are measured by the willingness of allies to stand together against external threats. New Zealand has no interest in doing so. Instead, it takes the benefits from Five Eyes while dancing to Beijing's Divide the West waltz. Biden may be willing to tolerate this absurdity, but the next American president should not.

Let them I’m tired of cajoling and worrying bout it. Whoever’s gov or economy doesn’t collapse first gets to suck up the spoils.
No more world order, let the oil tankers put the gulf hire and pay for their own anti piracy and nation state blockade busting.
Europe defend yourself against Russian amoral expansionism. To hell with nuclear non-proliferation. Build and deploy four hundred ICBM’s with a deadman switch’s and see who feels froggy first

The US had about $600bn worth of trade with China in 2022 (and its increasing). NZ had about $30bn. Clearly, NZ is a threat to US national security because they deal with China.

Glad i learnt something new today o_O

The HMNZS Manawanui, a specialist diving and ocean imaging ship, came into trouble about one nautical mile from the island of Upolu on Saturday night local time, while conducting a survey of a reef.

It later caught fire before capsizing.

All 75 people on board were evacuated onto lifeboats and rescued early on Sunday, according to New Zealand's Defence Force said in a statement.
The incident occurred during a bout of rough and windy weather.

Military officials said rescuers "battled" currents and winds that pushed life rafts and sea boats towards the reefs, and swells made rescue efforts "challenging".

Officials said the area had not been surveyed since 1987.

I don’t trust NZ (and barely the AU atm)

You don’t want our ships or planes that are thousands of miles from our home in your territory with nuclear weapons onboard?

OK, that fair.

But you get zero vote on our propulsion methods. I guess what I’m trying to say is: Frak off.

I would tell China and 92% of the world: “If you can get here, you can have her. Just be ready to fight their nearly toothless police dog”

To me it seems less about Chinese money and more about the whole 51st state dispute.
Opinions vary. Yours is valid. However nobody here wants <to take> Canada let alone New Zealand.

I hope you appreciate this: <opinion> if we (The USS) wanted to take New Zealand, we could send the Delaware National Guard to do it. Canada would actually take 10 or 15% of our active duty forces unless we wanted to just lay waste of the whole place (not nuclear) and then roll in.

The rest of the world are toddlers while the US and China are getting ready to have an Olympics level tryout. NATO combined could not stop the USA, atm, anywhere in the world we decided to project power.

The whole point here is that New Zealand north Canada no really anyone else has much to worry about from a US invasion unless you go out of your way to piss us off.

We have spent an absurd amount of money on defense. We really need to stop that but after we fight China or stop the alien invasion with a Microsoft Windows based virus and some really good cigars.

Edited for grammar and to remove stupid stuff < >

Well, China doesn't match the US militarily. China relies on numbers, just like Russia does.

In an even fight, the US would roll China over and spank it. But China has an advantage of an Ocean, lack of real interest by the US, plus a hundred million slaves to throw at US guns.

So as long as any real US interest isn't threatened, I think China has a good chance against the US.

China invades Taiwan, China might win.

China invades Hawaii, China is a smoking hole in the ground.

There is a political opinoin change occurring in Australia and recent Trump tariff actions against Australian trade exports after previous free trade agreements have increased suspicion and dislike towards the USA. Whether intended or not it is increasing individual re-evaluation of attitudes towards China. The perception is that the actions of the USA are now seeming to mirror some of those previously taken by China. The easing of trade relationship between Australia and China is having one consequence. Australians need the reconsider the separation of trade and defense arrangements. There is increasing realisation that Australia may need to increase it's relationship with China and review of the relationship to the USA similarly reviewed since Trump has demonstrated we are not considered to be a friend just like Canada.

You are absolutely correct, the USA would be an expeditionary force versus China as a home army. As of right now, if we’re willing to be brutal enough, we kick their ass. (No special weapons) just legal for US CBU’s, Area denial systems aka landmines, White Phosphorus (my personal favorite “Lazy Dogs” that have new life as drone dropped) FAR warheads (a disproportionate effect against defending Troop’s)

Most/all China has as well but they are mostly force multipliers against massing and defending troops.

If we fight this European style against an Asia enemy that has mostly not endorsed any accords, conventions etc, we will lose.

The US has always viewed Canada as a junior partner. Australia as been offered equal status amongst UK/USA/AU allies. IMO this has been pushed hard by Britain. The US is just going along with our stalwart ally and friend. We do not NEED the AU or NZ and the only argument I can see for increasing our exposure to yet another nearly unwilling and unarmed (ridiculously so) country, 8,000 miles away, is Britain will have a stroke when y’all are invaded and drag us down there.

AU are great people but you have (from our pov) become mice. Defending you is nothing but negatives for the USA.

Honestly, I hope y’all turn up your nose and walk away. Then we can go back to fortifying the shit out of a Guam Hawaii Japan line. Again y’all are just on huge liability. Hard to hear? Well is not that hard to think. Horse to water, and God helps those…

Good luck.
