You can always tell who are tourists in Florida. They're always burnt bright red. Not kidding about the sun burn in 15 minutes with unprotected skin.

Just a heads-up for anyone who has not been here. At the beach apply sunscreen every 30 minutes and seek shade breaks not being in the sun to long. Even in the shade the sun reflects off the sand so will get sunburned as well even under shade at the beach.

Like the Tourista tree in Central America 🤣🤣 my red headed used so much sunscreen in the Caribbean she left of skim on the water surface when we were at the beach. 😏
 
Hope this isn’t portending anything just had a power voltage drop at work that affected my SCADA system.
and now I have to go to work resetting a bunch of controllers

Is this all what we been fearing? Another 1990's and early 2000's blackout in New England and Canada where tens of millions where without power for sometime...? Even NYC was without power for sometime lead to a lot deaths and headaches to say the least.

I would HIGHLY recommend those here in Canada and Nothern US states to prepare for blackouts that may last for a extended period of time.

If you live in a densely populated area. Maybe wise to pick up NON-PERISHABLE food & bottles/jugs of water now, as a widespread prolonged power outage may make it impossible to do so later.

Live cable news anchor says the spot observed is just as big as the one in the 1800s from the Carrington event.

Internet outages are not out of the question as well.

As if the extreme geomagnetic storm weren't enough for space weather forecasters tonight, a significant solar flare is also occurring now too from the Active Region that is responsible for all the chaos closer to Earth.
This intense blast of x-ray energy just reached satellites close to Earth in eight minutes' time and may lead to an enhancement of solar energetic particles (radiation) as well headed into this evening. The solar flare is strongly ionizing the upper atmopsheric particles on the daylit side of Earth and will cause high frequency radio communications issues for several hours (to the already existing degradation caused by the extreme geomagnetic storm).
