North Korea threat is 'critical, imminent,' Japan tells U.S., South Korea

I had no idea about the parties in the street and the standing ovations.....rather disgusting...

The vela incident was the middle of bum f#*k no where and was unclaimed... NK doing this whilst the world watches after the exchange of rhetoric over the past months.....nup...I have tremendous respect for your insight and input but nup..not a chance that this action wouldn't lead to anything other than all out war...this boomer goes off over the pacific and the s#!t will hit the fan and the poopy the pavement.... you can't do this in 2017...every single citizen in Nipon will caca in their pantaloons and scream in unison..."kill that crazy bastard.. NOW!!" .....and it will be done.....
I mean seriously and honestly...picture it, images of an H-bomb exploding over the pacific and everyone just shrugs...bahahaha!.....as if....everyone will s#!t where they stand.......some people will probably piss themselves...quite literally...

I have to agree with this assessment. Trump is looking for an excuse, and an atmospheric test of a DPRK thermonuclear device would be all he needs. And my guess is both China and Russia would wash their hands of KJU at that point.

'..I have tremendous respect for your insight...'
Why, thank you! Personally, I think I'm an angry disenfranchised crank who usually advocates emptying out the magazine as the ne plus ultra cure all for life's little problems...if you kill the head. This is the disconnect I have with using force. I think we're all way too easy when it comes to killing the poor, starving schmucks enslaved by these despots as a way to get at the despots, though peasant complacency enables the despot. The plutocrats argument that you can't just kill the despot in person so you'll have somebody to negotiate with later is just silly. They play games, we pay in blood. Grumble...
I don't trust that russia and china will throw fat little bad hair under the bus if he goes off the reservation. If we go at the norks, viz: war, it's an irresistible chance to militarily and politically humiliate the US. They could, and I think, would use the norks as a tool to this end. Say one thing and do another is a standard marxist instrument. Both have a big axe to grind, and frankly, the US is going in dumb. Don't kid youselves, the US military is in sad shape. Strategic reserves are nil, there is an institutional aversion to risk, these big ticket silver-bullets don't work as advertised and only function at all because the vendors are hot-patching the crap to hold the guts in. The entire force structure revolves around killing ones and two's of mooks armed with kalashnilovs and a mule. We put everything out on the middle of a big, fixed bullseye with the expectation that the other guy isn't just going to drop a lot of missiles on the airbase or dockyard, or barracks. How many casualties is the US public going to tolerate, bearing in mind that they haven't fought a real war from a severely depleted material position. The DPRK may be something of a coal- fired stalinist joke, but it's still a lot of armed moolies to kill in bad, bad terrain at the end of a long logistics line. They can probably pull it off, but russia and china are going to bleed 'em, bad. I think I can see overlooking an above ground test out in the pacific with just more bellowing and sanctions.
Kimmie has little to gain by risking one of his expensive toys in a test that might fail spectacularly. He also has little to gain by getting into a shooting match. He has more to gain by using his toys as political blackmail. There's not a good solution to any of this mess.
I do, however, think some of social technicians responsible for digging this giant hole should be shot as an example-jimmie, bubba, the NSC and most of the puzzle palace denizens would be a good start.
So, we wait and see.
The important thing to remember is, some very wealthy people get to enrich themselves further at our expense.

Now, somebody tell this windy A-hole to shut up... ;)

Hmmmm.... Yeah, I'll go along with that...

Shut up, you windy A-hole.

OK, now I'm seeing how serious this really is. As much as we'd all love to see this come to a peaceful end, the chances of that happening are quite slim. Because of that, we need something to get things going and if it takes an atmospheric test, then that's what it takes.

The odds of a peaceful resolution to this crisis diminish on almost a daily basis. Trump is not interested in talks with DPRK that do not involve denuclearization. KJU is not interested in talks with US that involve denuclearization. China is now fed up with both the US and DPRK. Russia is no help. Threats, insults, military drills, and tests are being conducted by both sides, inflaming the situation. The amount of military hardware in the area is significant, and could easily destroy most of the Korea peninsula, even if nukes aren't used by either side. Both sides are tensed and just waiting for the other side to actually launch an attack. Everybody's talking, but nobody's listening.

You can't maintain a crisis of this significance at such a critical level for very long before somebody makes a fatal mistake.

Sadly, this is the case. The least we can hope for is that nukes are not used by anyone. However, I don't see that being the case as far as KJU is involved.

I agree with this thought. Kim will use them when he realize's that his time in power and on this earth is quickly coming to an end. He'll use every one he has.

Yeah. If he wasn't nuts, I'd wager firmly on bluff. Even well-proven, non russian missiles go wrong alarmingly often. A Zyb that's been in storage for 25 years, or is a kimmie copy...you'd have to be fairly nuts to risk a spectacular failure, and I haven't seen anything like the flight test program needed to wring these things out. But, he is quite insane by our standards, even if the CIA doesn't think so. The CIA's record of informed guessing is about as reliable as kimmies penis substitutes.

The Catalan regional parliament has voted to declare independence from Spain, while the Spanish parliament has approved direct rule over the region.
Catalan MPs backed the motion 70-10 in a ballot boycotted by the opposition.
Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy had told senators direct rule was needed to return "law, democracy and stability" to Catalonia.
The crisis began when Catalans backed independence in a disputed vote earlier this month.

This move opens Pandoras' box in Europe. The problem is not just nationalism, but the EU as a major tax mechanism distributing wealth to Eurocrats and the corporations of the North.

Catalonia's parliament declared independence from Spain on Friday in defiance of the central government, in Madrid.
The Spanish government responded by approving direct rule in the breakaway region. The vote by the upper house on Article 155 allows Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy to rule Catalonia directly.
Prime Minister Theresa May's office said Britain "does not and will not" recognise the Catalan regional parliament's declaration of independence, which "is based on a vote that was declared illegal by the Spanish courts
Germany said on Friday it supported the Spanish government in its dispute with separatists in Catalonia and would not recognise an independence vote by the Catalan parliament

The US State Department says it stands in support of Spain's government in its efforts to stop Catalonia's independence bid.
State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said:
"Catalonia is an integral part of Spain, and the United States supports the Spanish government's constitutional measures to keep Spain strong and united."

For EU nothing changes. Spain remains our only interlocutor. I hope the Spanish government favours force of argument, not argument of force.
