OFFICIALLY DECLARED FALSE:

This morning, an AI generated image of an explosion at the US Pentagon surfaced.

With multiple news sources reporting it as real, the S&P 500 fell 30 points in minutes.

This resulted in a $500 billion market cap swing on a fake image.

It then rebounded once the image was confirmed fake.

AI is becoming dangerous.

“and the markets briefly dipped”. Crazy to this that if a simple hoax makes investors flock to take money out, how would we react to something actually real or even more so a war? I don’t doubt the US’s capabilities in war but sometimes it makes me think if our civilian basis is able to handle what may come. (Not a theorist I have no idea what the future holds lol)
