People will protest and that’s fine.
There is another issue here going on. someone working within the confidential world of SC deliberations has broken a very serious protocol of the Supreme Court and possibly the law. There would be no whistle blower protection here because they did not leak an illegality or impropriety. So arrest their ass and prosecute them, if the law allows it.
One has to wonder why or for what purpose it was leaked at this time.
The Chief Justice said the doc was authentic but it was not the final decision. That it would likely be another two months.
So one should ask why now. It certainly doesn’t appear to be the courts final ruling/possibility it’s leaning. But it is not breaking news of the supreme courts final ruling.
So why pop this story now?
Well as some have joked it’s protest season why not.
But it is more likely designed to create public unrest, riots and very likely violence. The author knowing this, hopefully their sophisticated enough to realize this wasn’t a final draft leaked to them. So now it likely looks like with the express intention of somehow dissuading the court from actually ruling this way.
The US Supreme Court IS supposed to be insulated and rule irrespective of public opinion. You do all remember that correct?
Will this effect the courts final decision. We will see, if it does it is a serious attack on the judicial system in america.
So much so is this a issue the Chief Justice has ordered the Marshall of the court to investigate where the politico journalist obtained this draft. If it was staff on the court they should be prosecuted as the law allows.
This person is not a hero, he or she is an enemy of our judicial norms and expectations.
