This may become a bigger story in the coming weeks. Getting ahead of it. SO FAR - the pathogen is confined to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The pathogen has the makings of what we first saw during Covid, which is what has my alarm bells ringing. WHO is involved, and on the ground sampling and identifying, and sequencing the pathogen. This could be a virulent bird flu strain, perhaps something new. Hong Kong is already screening for it at airports. Very very early. Here is a tweet with a summary, and I will gather some more info as time goes. HOPEFULLY… this isn’t anything more than a “puff” in the wind, but I have a feeling it’s *POSSIBLY* an airborne pathogen, transmitted via respiratory droplets, and bodily fluids. Biohazard level 4 stuff.
- 143 dead, per Reuters yesterday- Affecting predominantly young adults- Spreading since 24 Oct- Centered in Kwango province- Symptoms include fever, headache, cough- WHO team is on the ground attempting to identify
CONGO - MYSTERY ILLNESS "The disease emerged at a time of increased influenza circulation, and the culprit is likely to be airborne,"Now this is concerning.
