According to sources cited by the New York Times, on March 21 Elon Musk was supposed to receive a classified briefing at the Pentagon concerning US plans for a military conflict with China.

After this became public knowledge the subject matter of the meeting was reportedly changed, and Musk is set to receive an unclassified briefing instead.

Well, duh! 😁

Any self-respecting military makes plans for all sorts of possible conflicts. That doesn't mean those conflicts are going to happen (it's not the military's job to decide which conflicts to get into) and it also doesn't mean the plans themselves are good. But they exist.

Regarding Musk's briefing, Trump had the following to say (make of that what you will):

I don’t want to show that to anybody– but certainly, you wouldn’t show it to a businessman who is helping us so much... You know, Elon has businesses in China, and he would be susceptible, perhaps, to that– but it was such a fake story.
 
Pentagon allegedly began lie detector tests on its employees to determine who leaked the story about Elon Musk receiving a classified briefing on a possible US/China war (which Trump later declared to be "fake news").

Canada are members of the "five eyes", and below the 2% gdp military expendure, and Trump didnt like the former Canadian premier - Communist China just wants to twart the last remains of National China its a thorn in their side for decades. From what ive seen this chaotic behavior is only to get democratic contries to unite, and engage in their own defence spending, and in a greater scheme devalueate the American Dollar so US are more competitive vs China.

edit; I get the first part and I am all for it, ( protection incentive from the US ) the economy part not so much, it seems to need a 3rd part - because what happens if the contries do not want to sell off their dollars in reserve - seeing South Korea and Japan make a free market with China might be a step towards it - also contry leaders would notice it, so there need to be an incentive and they have to be in on this as well to work ( maybe no trade tarifs with the US? )
