Trump decided not to discuss exporting advanced artificial intelligence chips from Nvidia to China during his meeting with President Xi Jinping last week - even though the possibility of allowing this was already planned in the talks in exchange for China allowing the export of rare earth magnetic metals to the US. This was reported by the Wall Street Journal, citing several sources familiar with the matter. According to the report, the plan to discuss exports was at the request of the CEO of the chip giant, which is interested in trading with China, but following a warning from senior administration officials that this would harm US national security, the idea was shelved. In addition to allowing the export of the chips, additional relief was planned for China, such as lowering tariffs.

China is offering discounted electricity to data centers that use domestic AI chips, pushing big platforms off Nvidia. In provinces like Gansu, Guizhou, and Inner Mongolia, eligible projects can see power bills cut up to 50% to around ¥0.40/kWh, while projects using foreign chips are excluded.

CNN investigation: China has expanded more than 60 percent of 136 facilities tied to missile production and the PLA Rocket Force since 2020, adding over 2,000,000 m², roughly 21,000,000+ ft², of new buildings. Imagery shows new bunkers, testing centers, earthen berms, and, at some locations, missile components visible on aprons. Analysts say the pace accelerated after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, consistent with preparing for the high missile demand of modern war.

The one-year anniversary of the Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) Plan has been marked by the opening of an office in Newcastle dedicated to the $850 million missile manufacturing partnership with Kongsberg Defence Australia.

The new Kongsberg office is an important milestone in the partnership which is creating hundreds of jobs in the Hunter and is expected to pump $100 million into the local economy. It will see Australia home to only the second factory in the world, and the first outside of Norway, to produce the Joint Strike Missile and Naval Strike Missile.

Also not the first time that invasion time estimates have been given ... and passed.

The US has had pretty significant unrest for the last few years.
