Radioactive Cobalt-60 measured along Norway's border to Russia

Cobalt-60 is an artificial radioactive isotope with a half-life of 5,2 years. It is produced in nuclear reactors, but when the isotope is measured in air it doesn’t necessarily have to be caused by a leakage from a nuclear power plant or naval reactor. Cobalt-60 is used in industry and medical science for x-rays.    

The Norwegian Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (DSA) discovered the Cobalt-60 when analyzing its air-filters for week 23 (June 3rd to 9th) at Svanhovd and Viksjøfjell. Both measuring stations are near Norway’s border to Russia’s Kola Peninsula.

«We have been in contact with the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority in Finland (STUK) and asked if they have seen anything in northern Finland, which they have not,» says Bredo Møller to the Barents Observer.

«As part of our good cooperation with Russian authorities, we have an agreement on sharing data with Murmansk Hydromet. So far we haven’t got any answers from them,» Møller tells. Roshydromet is Russia’s metrological service in charge of measuring radioactivity in the environment.

There was a huge Russian "war Gaming" exercise on the Kola Peninsular at this time in June!!

Probably just the leaky Russian Nuclear Navy. Two nuclear powered cruisers were in the area for the exercise in April as well as they also test launched a missile.

Then again the US spy satellites have seen some very suspicious looking suspected nuclear test sites up there as well. The kind that are banned. Very similar to North Korea's sites but better hidden.

Lieutenant General Robert Ashley, the director of the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency, made the claim in a speech given on Wednesday at the Hudson Institute think tank in Washington, D.C., The Wall Street Journal reported. He said the U.S. believes that Russia is carrying out low-yield testing at Novaya Zemlya—a secluded archipelago above the Arctic Circle where the USSR often tested nuclear weapons.

This is likely the real cause. The Russians never follow any ban or skirt the true meaning of an agreement so we should just start building B-21s with high powered lasers to remove the Russian threat once and for all or stop all this BS and just be friends.

China is a big enough enemy for the defense contractors to be happy having.

Any nuclear explosion of any magnitude would immediately be detected by seismic sensors all over the world. The seismic signature of a nuclear explosion is easily distinguishable from a naturally occurring earthquake, even to a layman. So, whatever testing they might be doing does not involve detonations.

The atom cloud clears

In 2017, a veil of radioactive ruthenium fell over Europe from nowhere. A team of researchers says now: There was a disaster in Russia.


The Majak complex in the southern Urals, where Siberia borders Europe, is one of the largest nuclear facilities in the world. Reactors, a reprocessing plant for fuel assemblies, interim storage. In 1957, the hitherto worst nuclear accident in history happened there. There was an explosion, eleven thousand people had to be relocated. On the international INES scale, the incident was classified in category six, the second highest. Only the disasters of Chernobyl and Fukushima surpassed that later.

In the meantime, Russia has become the Soviet Union, and again there is a shadow on Mayak. An international team of 69 scientists from 47 renowned institutions now confirms the assumption that had arisen some time ago that in autumn 2017 there had been another nuclear disaster at the Mayak reprocessing plant.

At that time, a cloud of the highly radioactive substance ruthenium-106 had spread over large parts of Europe. But because Majak is more than 4,000 kilometers from Frankfurt, the radiation in the territory of the EU was not strong enough to endanger people. The radio ecologist Georg Steinhauser from the University of Hannover, one of the coordinators of the research project, believes it is possible that even people were injured at the scene of the accident. And he adds a grave reproach: that of coverup. "This event should have been reported to the International Atomic Energy Agency," says Steinhauser. Russia is still fighting everything.

Now, the journal "Proceedings of the National Academy of Science," one of the world's leading scientific publications, has published the study of the 69 scientists on its website. The central statement is in the last sentence of the paper. The "Mayak nuclear complex," it says, must be considered "a likely candidate" for the origin of the ruthenium cloud in the fall of 2017.
