Stands to reason. But how many are smart enough to see the big picture...? 🤔
I think you would be surprised. If you want to bring a divided country together shoot down or even harass a plane full of members of congress. About half the country maybe more I don't know, doesn't like congress but they are ours and the ccp better not screw around with them or you're going to have a whole lot of pissed off Americans.

It's us doing the Hokey Cokey. Over the past two days I've heard every possible version of this story. Depending on whom you trust:
  • She's going tonight
  • She's going on the 4th
  • She's not going
  • She went yesterday
  • She's going incognito at a later date
Kind of underscores the need to vet your sources.

Plannings are month and even years ahead, perhaps the USA knows about somethings up, and therefor puts a representive in taiwan for that reason - not sure why they else would pull forces closer. Hows the weather this week?

I do not particularly believe China is going to do anything directly to Taiwan.

That said, remember we watched Russia progress their build up for a couple of months. Very few at the time believed Russia was going to launch an invasion.

I think reports of Chinese naval assets are good. But what are their airforce doing? Let alone sub positions.

I saw in the "🇹🇼Taiwan 🇨🇳China | REPORTS" thread all the amphibious tanks and tanks going down the streets, on the beaches, and being moved by trains. Yep, those my friend are paid by ever US citizen that buys China junk. Keep spending that US dollar to build up China's military. By the way...who thought it was a good idea to by food from China, Navy parts from China, ammunition from China, pharmaceuticals from China, ...the list can go on. Why did we build up our enemy's economy?

 It just blows my mind

You can’t have a cake and eat it too. China and the United States have been economically trading so intensely that they have kept each other on their feet.

The best part? They hate each other.

I count ~30 protesters. Appear to be outnumbered by media and police. Well equipped with matching signage and posters though.

The New Taiwan party is also basically politically irrelevant at the moment from what I can gather.

That tweet using that as a basis for "protests are gaining momentum" seems pretty disengenous. I would vet the source.

I'm perplexed. We are at DEFCON 5, but what about China shoot down Pelosi's plane or some fighter-jet of the escort? The situation could be crash in a very uncontrollable way, in a very few time and maybe all over the world. It seems to me, in itself, a worse situation than the Russian invasion of Ukraine the 24 February.

Even with all the military drills going on between ROC & CCP are just that, drills to huff and puff.

DWS does not see CCP shooting down Pelosi or do anything to provoke a American military response onto China as they could not hope to win conventionally or nonconventional against American military superiority.

BUT after Pelosi leaves seems to be a likely chance China may start a invasion of Taiwan. NOT while Pelosi is there. If China invades Tawain after Pelosi leaves still not much of a nuclear threat. Don't get me wrong it will be really bad with economical cascading effects. But not world ending.

Actually, I can answer that one easily in one word--GREED. Companies sell stock on the stock market--labor over there is real cheap due to the high amount of people. Less labor costs turns into additional profits. Now, if the truth be known, part of the problem actually comes from the AFL CIO or labor unions wanting more money. Again--greed. Granted in the 30's ect (almost a hundred years ago) labor unions were needed, but they've far outlived their usefulness, due to greed. I know that will step on a few toes here and there, but the truth is the truth.
