We are no where near a China Taiwan conflict. This year alone there has been almost no airspace violations or fly overs in the straight by China... the whole year.

The Wests response to Russia has indeed deterred China from making any moves. For now that is.

Not to mention China is not in a good financial position to start a war. Should also be duly noted Covid is becoming a destabilizing factor for China rn.
 
TOKYO: US President Joe Biden said on Monday (May 23) he would be willing to use force to defend Taiwan, rallying support on his first trip to Asia since taking office for US opposition to China’s growing assertiveness across the region.

Biden’s comments appeared to be a departure from existing US policy of so-called strategic ambiguity on its position on the self-governed island that China considers its territory and says is the most sensitive and important issue in its ties with the United States.

When asked by a reporter in Tokyo if the United States would defend Taiwan if it were attacked by China, the president answered: “Yes.”

“That’s the commitment we made … We agree with a one-China policy. We’ve signed on to it and all the intended agreements made from there. But the idea that, that it can be taken by force, just taken by force, is just not, is just not appropriate.”

This might have been the most coherent accurate US foreign policy statement of his presidency.
We Support the outcome of a one China policy but will never support it being achieved by force.
 
Taiwan is apparently a lot more important than the natural-gas-rich coastline of Ukraine

Note this isn't the first time he has said this. So don't believe the White House saying he didn't mean that cause he obviously does.

Very clear since Biden keeps slipping US has plans for Tawain if they are attacked. Which is good. Makes China think twice.

Biden said that for the third time. And for the third time the Withe House is rowing back. Either Biden no longer know what he says, or he has nothing to say.

I'm not going to believe he didn't mean it after the third time. No walking it back when it's been said several times in a direct response to the question about defending Taiwan in such a "matter of fact" manner in which it was spoken.

The cat is out of the bag and we should now recognize US likly intends on militarily defending Taiwan given Bidens several "matter of fact" statements about it.

What does China think they will gain out of invading and destroying Taiwan? They will be labeled another international pariah with all trade and travel ceased just like Russia.

That would be amazing. Needs to be done anyways,... we have aloud a brutal regime in China to grow to powerful by trading so much. 🤷‍♂️

Just sad it will only come to it if Tawain has a pointless war waged on its soil by a brutal dictator like Ukraine...

China should also be mindful to not bite the hand that feeds them. They should also be learning the lessons that Russia is facing when Russia bit the hand that feeds them too. The West can and will find other cheap labor product markets and resources.

(The hand that feeds them is the West)
