I bloody well hope that's the case. I also hope they're thinking of ways to circumvent Taiwan's outsize contribution to the global microchip industry. This is potentially a much more serious crisis than Russia/UA - you can sort of buy your hydrocarbons elsewhere, but you can't easily replace the high tech stuff.

In fact, perhaps it might be wise to begin stockpiling laptops. 😁
 
She needs to go there escorted by three or four carrier strike groups. Screw the CCP! Their population is not to happy with them right now do the lockdowns and bank defaults. A well placed decapitation strike would probably be applauded by their populace.

There doesnt need to be carriers even, but I suppose it would help the message.
China is testing us. We cannot back down OR ELSE they might just ACTUALLY do something.
Period. If we bend over to their threats, we are too far. Should have never accepted the one China policy. CPP can kick rocks. Start deleting Chinese vehicles that enter Tawain's territory.

Of course not. If she doesn't visit, we are handing Taiwan over to China.
Apparently the military doesn't think its a good idea. Well, they are dumb (usually Id say they do the military best but...).

Start shooting down violations of airspace, and when China threatens us, pull a Trump and tell them, our buttons bigger. (If there's one thing I agree with Trump doing, is telling KJU our buttons bigger. Russia is the only country you cant say that to. Sure, a few hundred nukes on America would be pretty devastating - but even Russia might just join the party against China if they pulled that shit, and China would have quite the wasteland) - basically, tell China "we both know who will win.".

Its the modern world, China isn't really as big and bad as we act, only in its economy(that is folding), it may have a large military but ours is still bigger and more experienced.

The most powerful weapon is fear. Just remember, even the biggest narcasists and sociopaths in power don't want their legacy to be a radioactive wasteland.

I think specifically their testing the Democrat leadership. I’m not criticizing the dems here I just think is more than just the us.

I don't think China will. Biden is a cold war hawk and isn't afraid to show the all American might when faced down by a adversary. China should know the US would respond in kind and hastily. Multiple Senators have been their recently and nothing was done either much to Chinas chagrin.

Biden is a old cold war hawk and does not back down in the face of tyrants militarily. We can 100% count on Biden calling Chinas bluff if they do anything to Pelosi on her way or while she is visiting.

Besides regardless if Pelosi is there when hostilities start the US would get involved anyways eventually because Taiwan makes 60% of the world's computer chips and the know-how to do it per scale. US simply can't let that fall into the CCP hands regardless of Pelosi.

I think it's very fair to say US will get involved.

It’s political negotiations. They were, then the dems popped out a 670 billion reconciliation Bill early this week. Annnnd republicans said well now that’s how we’re going to play. Well we’re going back to the negotiating table then because many believes we’ve already spent at least 2 trillion in the last two years.
What’s funny is these bills are sold to the public and passed with the argument well we’re going to spend another 670 mil to encourage growth in this industry.
Why not encourage business to invest in the country with their own damm money and give them significant tax breaks for 15 years. Might be less than 670 million might end up being little more.
Same growth
same industry protections.
But no added debt!

But no they won’t do that they want to give the money away with preconditions and regulations
Gotta make sure people flock around them like pigeons looking for bread crumbs.

It's not Ukraine where they can just drive across the border. Amphibious assaults are among the most challenging military operations imaginable and no one has really tried one since D-Day. The likelihood of this ending in disaster for China is acute - and in any case it would require a massive and blatantly obvious buildup (which we're not currently seeing).

They could opt for standoff attacks, but really, what's the point?
 
I read once that in the late fifties Mao ordered the party to scour the entire nation looking for ANY maps that didn’t list Taiwan as part of mainland.
It’s status went back and forth through history. If I remember correctly it was claimed Japan more than China. It was part of chain of islands that Japan fished.
