Should the US have Dropped "The Bombs" on Japan?

We will never come out and admit it but we needed to drop both bombs on Japan to test real wartime effects and to pause the Soviet advance. Japan formally surrendering without the emperor was just an excuse.
The fighting was still going on in China Korea and japans northern islands.
Imagine the hell if Japan had not surrendered to the US when they did.
A negotiated peace treaty dividing Japan and Russia in control of the entire Korean Peninsula.
Would we have ended up with Tokyo a divided city?
The nukes froze the fighting and lines in place and clarified that Japan was surrendering to the US and the US only.
It was as much a demonstration to the Soviets as the Japanese

Yeah, war has selfish objectives and there's no room for social justice. We dropped the bomb, it's tragic and horrible but yes American lives are more valuable than those of our enemies. In the end the display caused the soviets to be more cautious and I personally believe that preserved the peace for many many decades.
Well done Truman

Regardless of how much fighting would of been spared still think of these reasons as the main reason why we should of dropped them and reasons why I would not change the past and do it the same all over again:
  1. One upping the Soviets
  2. Beating the soviets to the punch from getting any major concessions/land from Japan.
  3. Got a real life test trial.
  4. We learned tons of invaluable information about nuclear warfare in urban settings.
Also... Any casualties would of been unacceptable to me even if it where just a few thousand. Hell even if the bombs saved just 100 American soldiers lives I'd say it was well worth it to drop them.

We didn't start that war or have a choice in fighting it. So why risk even 1 American life in my view after their atrocious and egregious transgressions against us already at that point in the war.
