Over the last few days, the entire site has been experiencing significant slowdowns and inaccessibility. This was due to our ISP throttling our site due to excessive traffic.
What we have done in response is to increase the security of the site during the morning when this traffic hits and lower it back down at night when traffic eases. Of course, the traffic seems to resume again in the morning.
Strangely, we didn't see a significant increase in traffic today, but the site was still throttled. According to our ISP, the limits to both physical memory and CPU resources were exceeded. Why, we don't know.
Unless we own our own server, we are limited to what a commercial ISP allows us.
For the time being, we will keep the security settings on the highest level, which will hopefully reduce any possible DDoS attack that may have been occurring against this site.
We will continue to look for more permanent solutions. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused anyway. We're just as frustrated as you are.
