So, someone who wrote an article for National Interest is claiming that the United States is at DEFCON 3.

For the second time this year, the United States has raised its alert status to DEFCON 3 in response to the threat of a Russian invasion along the borders of the NATO alliance, something that hasn’t happened in almost fifty years.
The writer of the article is listed in his bio as David T. Pyne, Esq. is a former U.S. Army combat arms and H.Q. staff officer with an M.A. in National Security Studies from Georgetown University. He currently serves as Deputy Director of National Operations for the EMP Task Force on National and Homeland Security and is a contributor to Dr. Peter Pry’s new book Blackout Warfare.

So this guy has some credentials behind him.

Nevertheless, we haven't seen anything that indicates such a high level of alert by U.S. forces.

We don't know where he is getting his information from.

To that end, I have sent an inquiry asking to clarify. I don't know if we will get a response, but I will post what I can if we do get one.

For those who want to read the article he wrote, you can find it here.

Negotiate Peace With Russia to Prevent War Over Ukraine

likely it would be for armed forces in europe and the middle east, the armed forces use defcon is not just one level but levels for each region now that I read about it, I can imagine forces in europe being on heightened readiness.

According to what I’ve been told from my source(stationed in S.Korea), there are increases in intelligence, but not anymore at this time in the Euro arena.

I also have several friends stationed in Europe they aren’t on high alert. Some of them are on leave as well for the holidays.

Europe they aren’t on high alert.
Defcon 3 doesn't mean high alert or high militarily readiness. Could be a little uptick on military activity. Or even no extra movement at all.

Defcon 3 can also be used as a statement to Russia as Russia knows always what alert status US is observing. If we lower 3 over Ukraine is a message to Putin even if nothing militarily from US is occuring movement or otherwise.

Even if this site went to Defcon 3 wouldn't mean high alert either.

He stuck it in so casually towards the later half of the article. Seemed odd to me

I heard back from the author of the article and he said he got his information from that crap website that has been spreading misinformation for months.

I gave him the information we had on that site and asked him to issue a correction.

So no, we are not at DEFCON 3.

That’s pretty damm sad that national interest would source that poorly

Yeah, I was shocked. Which is why I sent that inquiry so quickly.
Oh hallelujah….

I wonder what defcon level that site said we were at in 2014 when Russia did the same crap. We went D3 I wonder if they were D1?

Or was it 2017 when we went D3 and had bombers buzzing Russia when they pulled talks with us in Syria?

They seem to steal what they can from us and stay one level above to drive people to them. They feed on fearmongering.

I didn’t mean High alert. That was my bad. What I basically meant was higher alert.

He told me nobody is observing literally anything different from day to day, and leave requests are being approved still. Which he stated you’ll know because they want more troops on standby if highened alert status at a base. If that makes sense.

If leave requests were being denied, I would start being concerned!

I never liked The National Interest anyway. I thought it was all fearmongering and such. This only cements my claim in that it's not a reliable news site. Something about that site always felt like it wasn't quite...there. And I was right! C: Thanks for looking into that.

They are about as accurate as a Magic 8 ball.
Doesn’t even seem consistent with their own parameters for level 3
The alert status may be raised to Defcon 3, or Round House after a precision strike is carried out by an an enemy. This condition may also be reached after a precision strike is carried out by the United States military or any event that warrants a cautious state of military readiness and alert by U.S forces. Taken from Defcon Level Warning System:

The alert status may be raised to Defcon 3, or Round House after a precision strike is carried out by an an enemy.
This statement by itself should show you why the site owner knows absolutely nothing about DEFCON levels.

Round House is an exercise term. It is used to differentiate between a real DEFCON level and an exercise one so no one can mistake an exercise for a real DEFCON level change.

The fact that he didn't know that should tell you everything you need to know about his "expertise".

Yeah, I was shocked. Which is why I sent that inquiry so quickly.

Mr. Pyne served as a United States Army officer and worked as an International Programs Manager on the Department of the Army Headquarters staff responsible for the countries of the former Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, the Americas and Africa from 2000-2003. In addition, he has worked as a Lead Acquisition Analyst and Consultant for the U.S. Missile Defense Agency, as an International Analyst for the Office of the Secretary of Defense and for the Department of the Navy.

So in other words he is a Spook 😆. He is very educated on all things Russia and he likely told you that because he knows he tell the real number without getting in trouble.

I would advise everyone to read this is you don’t scare easily. Russia has played the Democrats and some Republicans alike like a fiddle for 30 years.

These guys have caught Russia lying over and over and it all came out, Because President Trump pushed Russia to tell the truth where as no other President had the balls too!!!!!!! They wouldn’t so Trump pulled us out of the Suicidal treaty’s. Read and you will probably not sleep well.

Does Russia Have 2-to-1 Advantage in Deployed Strategic Nuclear Weapons?

Russia turned on a dime (apparently because of the Trump administration’s effort to enforce Russian compliance with the INF Treaty) and went back into high nuclear threat mode. This is President Putin’s default response when the West does or says things he doesn’t like.

If one uses the late Soviet declared number of over 10,000 deployed strategic nuclear warheads for the calculations,[19] the difference between an 85% reduction and a 66% reduction is almost 2,000 strategic nuclear warheads above the supposed New START Treaty allowed level of 1,550. This is much higher than any previous unclassified Western estimate of currently deployed Russian strategic nuclear warheads. For example, in 2018, Hans M. Kristensen and Robert S. Norris estimated that Russia has 2,522 deployed strategic nuclear warheads.[20]
While the New START Treaty warhead limit is not real because of loopholes, a force of over 3,300 Russian deployed strategic nuclear warheads (a two-to-one and growing Russian advantage in strategic nuclear weapons) is very significant and could impact Putin’s future decisions regarding war or peace. To deploy more than 3,300 strategic nuclear warheads, it takes more than simple exploitation of the New START Treaty bomber weapon counting rule which counts a bomber load of nuclear weapons as one warhead.[21] The Kristensen and Norris number already does this. A current level of over 3,300 warheads requires a substantial covert force of heavily MIRVed mobile ICBMs and/or cheating on warhead numbers on declared delivery vehicles.

The existence of a covert mobile ICBM force is consistent with General Karakayev’s repeated statements that he has about 400 operational ICBMs when he cannot legally have more than about 300 consistent with Russia’s declared New START Treaty data on delivery vehicles.[22] He was very explicit about this in 2014 when he said the Strategic Missile Force “…has around 400 missiles with warheads on combat duty.”[23]

During the Cold War, there were covert Soviet mobile missile deployments detailed in State Department reports to the Congress. This included the SS-16 mobile ICBM banned by the SALT II Treaty and the SS-23 mobile short-range missile banned by the INF Treaty.[24] Recently, the Russian Federation has attempted to covertly deploy the SSC-8/9M729 intermediate-range nuclear capable ground-launched cruise missile.[25] Thus, there is no apparent reason why there could not be a covert Russian deployment of the heavily MIRVed mobile SS-27 Mod 2/RS-24 Yars ICBM.[26] Cheating with mobile ICBMs is facilitated by the fact that the New START Treaty omitted almost the entire START Treaty verification regime for mobile ICBMs

Scared to death yet???? They have an insane advantage, one that can easily see them considering a first strike with Biden at the helm, since he will not be able to contemplate the gravity of the situation and the speed he will have to react just to get our missiles out of their silos, our bombers will be lucky to get off the ground.

All of our bombers need to be loaded with nuclear weapons right now, every last one of them!!!!! They can put half ass controls into the aircraft, it’s just wires laying on the floor for Christ sakes…. Roll all the B-61s out and stuff them. Immediately bring every last B-83 out of storage and load them into the B-2s and B-1s biggest bombs for our only bombers that have a change getting into Russia.

Bring our nuclear cruise missiles and load them on the rotation racks into the bomb bays of the B-52s and mount the weapons pods on the rest again, we just took them off. We need to show Russia we know and that we are not playing around. Lastly every bomber that gets loaded then flies to an undisclosed civilian airport with a refueling aircraft and a security team in a C-130 armed to the teeth.

We need to then bring in every last Ohio boat that was made a Tomahawk boat and load them with nuclear Tomahawks. That should give them pause.
