To be fair they didn't have 400+ videos taken by military pilots at 40000+ feet with the same general characteristics in all of them back then, they probably knew of them, but didn't have as clear evidence that they actually exist as we do now. I mean good lord we've got a video in good resolution of a rotating pyramid floating around one of our destroyers in California before vanishing. That should be enough to convince people imo, especially since it's the first time our government has been so disclosing about these matters. It might not be aliens operating these objects. But some of these crafts are definitely not of human design. Either somebody found one of these objects with no explanation and the tech was reverse engineered, or humans are much much much more advanced and capable of creating tech that breaks the laws of physics.

Maverick and Goose can fly inverted, take a [polaroid] of a Mig22, but we can't even get a [visual] description of these other "objects" shot down with sidewinders?
