Populated areas according to sec of defense??? That's bullshit. Where that thing currently is--it's in open areas, almost no one lives there. Yea, sheep, go back to sleep, stay at defcon 5. Let's keep the panic well below sweat stage. Nothing like this has happened since WW2 when Japan was sending incendiary bombs over to the west coast. Staff, you better wake your ass up.
 
Those are our goddamn missile installations, it needs to be shot down.

It’s a balloon. As much as I don‘t trust all info put by the Gov. I highly doubt there is any immediate military threat to the US, they haven’t shot it down yet (as far as we know) probably because they haven’t finished gathering all the info they want Yet . Geez.

But if we delay too long we could start seeing more of these things pop up over the country if China starts to believe that we've moved our nuclear assets to another location. Who cares what they can get, get it on the ground before the Chinese get enough info to send back

Why the hell would they not want to? Not trying to direct anger towards you, more so that this absolutely ridiculous shit is happening.
 
It's tit for tat everyone is spying on everyone. Sec Def has said it's *NOT* unprecedented. This one is just loitering more than usual. They're not going to shoot it down as it represents no threat.

We aren't going to war / nuclear war over a balloon. Yes it'll have political repercussions then be swept under a rug like all things do in this media hype time we live in. It only seems worse cause of the amount of media hype surrounding the supposed "Ww3" threat lately.

Just wait it out. It'll pass and if it doesn't then so be it, nothing we could have done about it.
