I’m certainly no scientist, but I wonder if there was some way of uploading some corrupted data onto the floating school buses systems that would have been simultaneously downloaded back in Peking? Now That would have been hilarious!

I doubt it. It was probably launched somewhere in the north Pacific Ocean, not mainland China.

My theory on why they're not shooting it down is they have the opportunity to use it to send garbage date back to China somehow. That's what I would try to do, anyway.

Is it under power? I don't think a balloon can hover or follow a certain trajectory over our missile fields. Why would they do this? It's so obvious.
