This is just an opinion and nothing else, and since I forgot my glasses, it's even harder. LOL I really think that allowing Sweden and Finland into NATO is going to be a very dangerous mistake. These moves in the directions that things have been going somewhat reminds me of 1937 before the break out of WW2. My gut tells me that something bad is fixing to happen. NO, I don't have a crystal ball, don't read tea leaves, don't use weigi boards, (or however you spell it) don't look at animal guts or any of that stuff. It's just a gut feeling, but look at what's been going on lately. Things don't add up like what is being put out there with open source, regular media, or news in general. OK, hear me out for a moment. This might not be in the absolute correct order, but put two and two together. NATO generally has about 40,000 on I'll say basic combat readiness. Now that number has been increased to 300,000. Troops leaving Ft. Campbell KY being deployed over there. A 2300 hr emergency meeting at the Russian headquarters, along with other developments in the past few days.

Now, I'm trying to use as much logic as possible, no emotional stuff, no fear porn or any of that crap. Generally, when something serious is going on, there's always some sort of a diversion. It's even happened in this general forum. A perfect example is roe V Wade. Now, I ask you. What in the hell does abortion have to do with monitoring of nuclear situations or national defense??? It has nothing to do with any of the above. The only thing it accomplishes is to raise the level of emotions and cause people to take a side.

Basically things don't add up. I'm NOT saying fear, but I have an uneasy feeling this time about the coming week or two. OK, according to what news is being released, this is going to force Putin into a corner. Now with those blockades in various parts of their country, this is going to force Putin to a point of desperation, like a caged animal being forced into a corner. Any animal or human that gets put in that position is going to do one of two things--fight or flight. And, with his idealogy of making Russia great again, along with his pride--I pretty well know which way he's going to go. And, anyone with any lick of common sense will come up with the same answer or conclusion.

Unlike the mid east folks, Russia does place significance in holidays. Well, we have the 4th of July just around the corner. Need I say or imply more? I'm NOT saying anything is going to happen, but it sure would be an ideal time and an area of significance as far as for playing with the emotion of the general US population if something occurred during that week of a time frame.

I've said it 100 times (figure of speech) but if the shit really hits the fan, I really don't think that the American people will have much (if any) warning whatsoever. It will be just like 9/11 or pearl harbor. Sure, there were some warning signs out there, but no one payed any attention.

Honeslty, I hope that the gut feeling was just from too many chili dogs. LOL Do some of yiou feel the same way???

USA public has virtually zero preparedness. I agree that is a serious problem.
There need to be specific discussions on actual preparedness activities, food, travel, shelter-in-place, alternative communications on that, which is one of the main reasons I first came to this community. Cellphone repurposed with bluetooth communications capabilties for emergency communications, etc.
However, I don't believe the July 4 holiday is an issue. That is something that a non-power like North Korea does.
The former USSR is still led by a dictator and military that is more strategically sophisticated than that.
As you say, if the former USSR strikes the USA, it will strike when USA is *NOT* expecting it. Not when it is on strategic alert.

I think the former USSR invaders are largely being successful in reading the USA public's crisis fatigue.
Crisis fatigue is probably the number one Russian strategy today, as they continue their invasion of Ukraine people's nation.
If Russia were to escalate, I would imagine it would be very selective and very strategic. Russia needs only to pound away for now, and from its perspective, let the USA destroy itself from within.

You aren’t the only one with a gurgling gut… lol. In all seriousness, my gut instinct is telling me that Finland and Sweden going through the process is pushing Vladimir Vladimirovich even closer to heavy conflict.

He’s having enough problems in Ukraine, trying to hold whatever ground he has gained. Opening up a second front ,to go into battle with Finland and Sweden, would push the Russian Military too hard. Threaten to launch conventional missiles and artillery ? Yes. That might be all he does, for now.

Let’s see if he continues playing by the Russian playbook.

While I agree that the WEF is a snake pit. I’ve also come to realize that sometimes things really are just a CF and leaders and nations are doing things for really base reasons.
