The Israeli Air and Space Force struck Abu al-Duhur Airbase in Syria, targeting the base where the newly established Syrian Air Force had been working to restore its combat aviation capability. The airbase housed a recently reactivated MIG-23UB combat trainer, Su-22UM/M4 fighter-bombers and L-39 advanced jet trainers, while Syria has also been attempting to return other surviving Assad-era combat aircraft to operational condition.
  • News sources including Reuters and Syrian state TV confirm eight strikes caused material damage but no casualties; the base had been repurposed for the new Syrian army's training after Assad's 2024 fall.
  • The strike reflects Israel's ongoing strategy to block Syrian air force reconstruction, timed after recent Syrian air exercises and a Turkish military inspection aimed at airfield reactivation.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan signed Türkiye's conditional pardon framework for thousands of PKK members and the law was published in the Official Gazette. It cannot become operative until the National Security Council confirms that the PKK has dissolved and surrendered its weapons. That certification has not occurred.

Senior Israeli official to Fox News when asked about the reported Israeli strikes in Syria overnight:“Highly sensitive intelligence was shared with the United States in advance, at the most senior levels of the various agencies and bodies," the official said. “Al-Sharaa understands that he cannot operate like the previous Syrian regime, which maintained proxy forces. It’s possible that he didn’t understand what was going on, or didn’t know.”The official could not provide additional details, “due to the highly classified nature of the intelligence.”

Several explosions were reported tonight at Kuweires Airbase near Aleppo. Earlier, multiple Israeli fighter jets were reportedly seen heading toward northern Syria.
  • The post reports unconfirmed explosions at Kuweires Airbase near Aleppo, northern Syria, noting prior sightings of Israeli fighter jets heading north, shared by a pro-Israel commentary account.
  • Kuweires Airbase, located at the posted satellite coordinates, served as a key Syrian facility during the civil war and anti-ISIS campaigns, now potentially in focus amid post-Assad security shifts.
  • This aligns with Israel's recent pattern of airstrikes on Syrian air infrastructure, such as the confirmed August 18 hits on Abu al-Duhur base to prevent military rebuilding and Turkish involvement.

U.S. envoy Tom Barrack said Washington & Ankara received no warning before Israel struck Syria’s Abu Duhur airbase on August 18. He said U.S. intelligence rejected the claim of a Turkish deployment and the incident brought Turkey close to scrambling fighters. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz disputed Barrack’s account, saying Syria was warned and intelligence was transferred to U.S. authorities.
