Thailand’s Royal Thai Air Force has signed a contract, reported at about 3.44 billion baht (around 108 million USD), for Israel Aerospace Industries’ Barak MX air defense system.
The package provides a medium range layer for base and airspace defense, with interceptors in the 35 to 150 km class against aircraft, drones, cruise missiles and some ballistic threats.

The system will be fielded as an integrated battery under the RTAF Security Force Command, expanding Thailand’s previously limited ground based air defense architecture.

Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul rules out negotiations with Cambodia over the border crisis, declares that "[it] will not be resolved through talks", and furthermore states that he "does not remember" the joint declaration between Thailand and Cambodia signed in Malaysia under US auspices (this is one of the wars POTUS claims to have "ended").

Charnvirakul furthermore says he has not spoken with Donald Trump or Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim since the clashes began, describing the confrontation as a matter strictly between Thailand and Cambodia. He says he's not worried about any impact on trade or tariff negotiations with the United States, and remarks that if the US really wants to end the conflict, it should bring this up with Cambodia rather than just "keep telling us to stop".

Cambodia has long been a client state of China, and is deeply infiltrated by Chinese interests.

As for, Thailand it has - until recently - been regarded as a US ally. However, that is now changing. Trump has cut off military and economic support, and China quickly stepped in to fill the gap. In doing so, they were aided by internal turmoil and unpopularity of the current king Rama X. China offered arms supplies and joint military contracts, along with symbolic support for the monarch on the diplomatic front, and assistance in suppressing internal opposition. No wonder Thailand took the bait - in fact, just last month Rama X became the first-ever Thai king to officially visit China.

TBH the whole affair smells of a Chinese trap that Trump eagerly waded into. If anyone can actually make peace between Cambodia and Thailand, it's not Washington, but Beijing - since they're effectively playing both sides at this point. And it's not inconceivable that they will eventually step in, once they decide the Americans have embarrassed themselves enough.

Nice tigger discipline. Matches nicely with a bit of cranial muzzle sweep. All this in the bed of a pickup. I don’t like the look on that face….

I ❤️ Thailand, and they are, when trained some bas assed soldiers.IMG_0917.webp
