The only problem with auto recording is how you may have it set up if you are only using let’s say WEBSDR Netherlands 11175 you may be missing a lot on WEBSDR Mich 8992 that Netherlands is not picking up. On 8992 yesterday there was a string of All Stations 30+ in about a 45 min time span that WEBSDR Netherlands never picked up. If you have a way of doing two sources to log would be best.
But you know anything is better than nothing at all. I can auto record but have not tried two sources at once I have been manually recording bouncing between sources My own HF gear and WEBSDR MICH and WBSDR Netherlands
And like it was posted it is better to have a computer dedicated to just logging and recording


I have also tried this recoding software works good it is called Sound Tap but you would need additional software to auto record

That's the only problem with WebSDR - since it's all via web browser it's bloody difficult to pipe different streams in different directions. Running a few virtual machines would be the way to go, but lots of overhead, especially with web browsers being the memory hogs they are.

If you really want to do it get a pile of iPod touches, a multi track input device and run into Logic Pro (or equivalent). Assign each input to a track and you're done.

If technically inclined. You could probably set something up like this with your own software defined radio . This is something I would like to do someday unfortunately I do not have the funds to upgrade for HF at this time. At this time I can only go as low as 25 mhz . I like to just record the cb band and listen back :lol:

Using VMWare would be a lot cheaper if you have a browser that doesn't leak memory like all the modern ones do

Only reason I can't do that on my current streaming box is that it's got a lot of resources reserved for some local fire comms streams I run on Broadcastify.

For sure, need a big-ass antenna though. Have you had a look at upconverters for the ultracheap SDRs? http://www.nooelec.com/store/ham-it-up.html

We seem to be sneaking a little off topic here though, so to bring things back, here's a summary of things since my previous post:

Lots of test counts but not much going on until 0640z with a Skyking. Shortly after we had 4 EAMs - 0742z, 0746z, 0757z, and 0803z.

More test counts after that up to 1143z with some heavy French traffic. All quiet then until 1619z with an almost unreadable EAM, followed by the same at 1649z. Next EAMs were 1920z and 1937z, followed by more at 2115z, 2120z.

Another one going out now as I type.

Edit: Another one going out at 2219z, and another at 2232z.

Had a bit of a play with the data to visually represent the frequency of EAMs (note this doesn't account for back to back messages that are in the same file). All times in UTC.



Couldn't get the chart to show hours without any EAMs, my excel-fu has failed me

Interesting to see on both days there's the same amount in the hour of 16z. Will continue to gather the stats and revisit this in a week.

Fairly quiet overnight, though lots of unreadable traffic so could be I wasn't on the best freq.

First EAM 1635z, all quiet until 1825z, followed shortly after by another at 1835, then 2052z, 2059z, 2104z, and 2122z.
