Trump, Putin Summit

Well no CF. A total win for Putin.
It’s a win for Putin in the eyes of the Russian people, at the end of the day it didn’t accomplish anything for him. At the same time, Trump looked like a moron for rolling out the red carpet for him, although the B2 was a nice touch. I think this whole thing just demonstrated to both sides that there’s no deal to be made right now. But who knows I’m sure Trump will say some more stupid shit, the kremlin will say yep we want peace well demonstrating no efforts towards it, and the fighting will continue into next year.

Personally I didn't expect it.
No deal can be made really.
Western expectations and Russian can never work together again. I know this.
The west should aswell. Putin knows this. Trade yeah sure. Weapons caps yeah sure.
Conflicts 🤣😂🤣 not a chance. Trump has nothing to offer Russia. Russia-Ukraine conflict with western support, I said it at the start , Russia has got this. And just like the American democrats who refused to resign and burned.
The west as a collective are following the same path not for, but in Ukraine. Russia and Iran are holding ground buying time knowingly or not for China. Depletion of western weapons and ammunition extension of time of western agression against China. The Western empire is disintegrating and the sad part is our populations are not recognising it . Ego in the way for minority and the rest just don't have the interest in the topic to notice. Unless the west go full swing on arms production as a collective yesterday. No way can they catch up with chance of dominance.

Zelenskyy:
We had a long and substantive conversation with @POTUS. We started with one-on-one talks before inviting European leaders to join us. This call lasted for more than an hour and a half, including about an hour of our bilateral conversation with President Trump.

Ukraine reaffirms its readiness to work with maximum effort to achieve peace. President Trump informed about his meeting with the Russian leader and the main points of their discussion. It is important that America’s strength has an impact on the development of the situation.

We support President Trump’s proposal for a trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the USA, and Russia. Ukraine emphasizes that key issues can be discussed at the level of leaders, and a trilateral format is suitable for this.

On Monday, I will meet with President Trump in Washington, D.C., to discuss all of the details regarding ending the killing and the war. I am grateful for the invitation.

It is important that Europeans are involved at every stage to ensure reliable security guarantees together with America. We also discussed positive signals from the American side regarding participation in guaranteeing Ukraine’s security. We continue to coordinate our positions with all partners. I thank everyone who is helping.

Putin got a propaganda win, the U.S. looks weak. He’s destabilized Europe, made no concessions, paid no price. No sanctions enforced.

I’m sorry but it’s hard to get over the picture of the airmen on their knees, in front of the Russian jet, rolling out the red carpet for a mass murderer. Just never thought I’d see that.

Truly vile from Trump, sickening to the core and morally repugnant. That’s my two cents.

Now watch the far right and Putin sympathizers rush to defend this 💩 show.

It rehabilitated a genocidal authoritarian, pulled Putin out of isolation onto the world stage, and handed him a free global platform to push sick lies and propaganda. Trump gave Putin a win-win. But what's new right?

You are not wrong. Trump didn’t show up with much to offer from Putins pov as from the wests point of view we are only mediators, not a party to the conflict. Of course this is technically true but the UA would have collapsed years ago without our help.

Russia is going to find life quite a bit harder if Trump is to be believed. I guess we are at the end of the road. Trump has said for years now he would unleash the UA with all the weapons of war we currently reserve from them. Number one being long range fires on strategic targets. Currently the UA can fudge the border on clear tactic targets (assembly points, supply points etc)

So where are we? After what would normally be an acceptable first round (no break down on talks), Putin smiled like a Cheshire cat and delivered nothing of apparent value. Trump has demanded a cease fire or massive escalation. I suppose it’s time to remove the Geo Fences and put Russia on defense for a while.

Unfortunately only way to end this invasion appears to be to attack Russia were they live, eat sleep and pray. See how they like having their Apartments, Shopping malls and Churches struck.

Personally I think it would be a great place to combat test Rapid Dragon as the UA is sans bombers. The problem is exactly as you described: we only have around -2500* and needs hundreds if not thousands more in the increasingly likely event of War with China.

Trumps release that they (Ru UA) need a Peace Treaty not a Ceasefire sounds really great but it just means Putin didn’t budge.

*Rapid Dragon and JASSM et al, are open source based on contract quantities and extrapolating the work in Troy.

(Sorry if I was remotely close, Bob)

What a load of crap. It’s a simple screen grab. No one is “on their knees” to Putin.

Why would you bother posting this?

Nothing burger. We are exactly where we were. Putin delivered absolutely nothing, but appears to have bought himself some time while he plays everyone with a peace deal.

Meanwhile.. Putin openly says in the press conference that he is happy to see 20% growth in U.S.-Russia bilateral trade 🤣

A source familiar with the talks between Trump and Putin said that the Russian president proposed freezing the front in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions in exchange for a Ukrainian withdrawal from Donetsk — a demand that Ukraine is highly likely to reject.
The source said that the American side got the impression that Putin is open to negotiations regarding the Sumy and Kharkiv regions.
During the meeting with Trump, Putin requested that the U.S. recognize these four regions, in addition to the Crimean Peninsula, as part of Russia.
A senior Ukrainian official said that Zelenskyy was pleased to hear that Trump is willing to offer U.S. security guarantees to Ukraine. The Ukrainian official stated that the guarantees were not discussed in detail and will be addressed further during Zelenskyy’s visit to the White House on Monday.

To quote Talleyrand - "It is worse than a crime: it is a mistake."

It all went pretty much as expected. Our modern-day Caligula is likely too far up his own arse to realize Putin just wiped the floor with him in front of the whole world. And given the fact that he chose to surround himself with crooks and lackeys - nobody has the courage to tell him.

The US has become a headless chicken. This is how nations fall.

I can answer that question: because, even if nothing substantive was agreed upon, this meeting was all about optics (which, by the way, seems par for the course in global politics these days). And the optics could hardly be more horrible for either Trump or the US. I'll add that Putin was even the first to speak at the official presser (a role traditionally reseved for the summit host).

You could literally be excused for coming away with the impression that Trump visited the Alaska Oblast of Russia, was hosted by Putin, and came back with nothing.

Perhaps You could be confused. Most people, especially those on this site can pick up on subtle clues like endless F-35’s, a couple of B2’s and the really difficult to discern “ALASKA 2025” surrounded with American flags and Cadillac limousines with American flags. I suppose the large American Flag flying at the airport was a bit too subtle as well.

My take away is that you see what you want and may have abandoned critical thinking, certainly dropping the observe and report loop.

I know things are shite right now. But I’m have not failed to observe the obvious: Putin showed up.

Edit: massively edited, only for spelling, as my vox seems to be badly performing (or is that performing badly?)

With this you have realized more than most, Now you know how some of us on the left felt towards Biden with the weapon restrictions and lackluster responses... The best thing that could happen right now is for Trump's supporters to convey subtlety or not, how Trump mishandled the situation. Sure the demonstration of force can be argued, but how does any of that hold meaning while we simultaneously show that we treat our adversaries better than our allies? It should be commonly agreed upon that the dressing down of Zelensky and the shameful, 'Why aren't you wearing a suit?' comment, was an awful way to show strength. It's sad to see the parallels being drawn so fast but when Trump so blatantly offers the comparison, why wouldn't we point it out? Optics are important, not just pertaining to military strength but also TACT and faculties of the mind, which Trump seems to be EXTREMELY lacking in.
