I have posted about the concept of this before. Looks like it is getting close to operational capacity.
• Carried medical equipment, survival gear, batteries and a satellite tracker.
• Tested how cargo handles launch and reentry.
• Goal: Deliver critical supplies quickly worldwide, even where roads and runways are unavailable.
Future missions could support military resupply, rescue operations and disaster relief. The mission launched on October 20, 2026.
- The X post by @cb_doge accurately reports the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory's October 20, 2026 test of Rocket Cargo capabilities, using a SpaceX Starfall reentry capsule on a Falcon 9 Bandwagon-5 rideshare launch from Cape Canaveral.
- AFRL loaded agile cargo pods with medical equipment, survival gear, batteries, a SATCOM tracker, and a reverse osmosis desalinator, plus sensors to measure temperature, shock, and vibration during launch, orbit, and reentry.
- The program aims to enable rapid point-to-point delivery of critical supplies worldwide in under 90 minutes, supporting military resupply, disaster relief, and operations where traditional infrastructure is unavailable.
