U.S. and Russia presidents to meet (virtually) on Tuesday.

Though they are scheduled to talk about several subjects, I am certain it is the Ukraine situation which has prompted this highest-level meeting.

A small part of me (maybe being overly dramatic) thinks this may be the "Red Phone" meeting that either averts or starts a war.

Again, I don't believe NATO will be involved in any Ukraine action unless it is a full invasion.

And Ukraine will not be there, nor NATO. If there is war
in Ukraine, it will be a war between USA | Russia
on the territory of Ukraine. Russia will use Belarus
and pro-Russian Ukrainians by supplying them with arms and the USA will supply arms through NATO to supply the Ukrainian army.
Already seen (Vietnam, Korea, Syria ...)
In the end, Ukraine fragmented!

I'm hoping it's the scenario I laid out before. This is just geopolitical move to bring Russia to the bargaining table over China. I think Biden is gonna offer to pull back completely and make sessions if Russia starts to pull away from China some. We already seen some of this with Russia doing naval exercises with ASEAN.

Their doing naval exercises with China specifically.

I have some basis there, to think that Biden will be almost directly asking Putin to start a war, and will give him guarantees of non-interference. Sounds like weird conspiracy, but still.
UK needs stability over that region, and with it - time to set in. Britain is trying to get their head inside way too much - Americans doesn't need that, they want to bail out like they did in Afghanistan - with British bases blowing up behind their backs. Their project "Ukraine" is over, just like the Afghanistan is. Track history of Zelensky's adventures - frequent trips to Britain and Turkey with deals throughout last several years because he knows that US is bailing out.

Some economy expert that i trust states:
Last year, I came across information about one important economic indicator of the Ukrainian economy - the volume of capital investment in% of GDP.
For 2020, Ukraine is the third from the end in the world by this indicator.
Here is the end of the list for capital investments:
-Sierra Leone - 9.59%
-Solomon. islands - 8.55%
-Ukraine - 7.51%
-Sudan - 5.79%
-Equator. Guinea. - 5.31%

The critical level of investment in order for the depreciation funds to be sufficient to maintain the state's infrastructure is 10%.
Which means that Ukraine infrastructure won't last long, man-made disasters on industry objects (and please, oh-no - nuclear reactors) are going to blow sooner on later. If Ukrainian elites directing budget that way - they don't plan to stay much longer in there.
If you look at the economic indicators of Ukraine, they are terrifying - with a drop in GDP in national currency by 2%, Ukraine's public debt is more than 60% of GDP, while the trade balance is becoming positive in 2020.
Import - 5.287 billion USD
Export - 5.548 billion USD
Although, under the last 3 Ukraine presidents, this balance was negative.
Sudden surge of export income means they are starting to sell away the country - everything they can get their hands on. And they are not even using this money to invest into maintenance. Economy of Ukraine is fading out.
From this we can draw the paradoxical conclusion that the main interests in losing the war with Russia are the Ukrainian elite. That's right - they interested in starting a war and losing quickly in it. Thus, they will be able to leave as heroes, and the costs of the Ukrainian infrastructure will fall on the Russian budget.
As a result, it turns out that the main interests in the imminent war between Russia and Ukraine, as well as in the quick defeat, are the Ukrainian elites and the United States, and the main interests in keeping the situation in check are the British, they need time to build military bases in there.

Also, some news from other sources:
Ukrainian sources report that now the Zelensky office has split the entire Donbass case into three development paths.

1. War, new negotiations, new agreements signed
2. The beginning of movement in Minsk Protocol, a soft start of communication with the Republics on a straight line.
3. Freezing the conflict and trying to shift its solution forever. As it has been for the last 1.5 years.

The source adds that the third option is the most acceptable for the President's Office, but in fact it does not suit international players who are now bargaining for the Ukrainian case.
Some different source, but it conveniently, 100% intersects with analysis i posted above - Ukraine needs time and stability to get help from Britain and Turkey, but EU players, Russia and US are not happy to provide.

And why would they not be interested in providing or encouraging stability to Ukraine so that they could make the changes needed and time to recover their economy. That is a negative admonishment of their intentions. You might be right about the US’s intentions but I’m not convinced.
I know the US population is tired of war.

I would argue their are two easily visible reasons why investment is insufficient in Ukraine. The oligarchs in Ukraine stifle investment because of their behavior, and that is competition for them. They want to keep their strong seat at the table. Which is one of the things the US has pushed Zelensky to take on the oligarchs and reduce their influence.
Your observations about Ukraine’s oligarchs encouraging a war with Russia makes sense thou because if Russia controls Ukraine they would be left in place as long as they play nice with Putin.

the best I can tell is the Biden admin needs a war somewhere to replace that $80 billion in supplies he left behind. War is a money maker especially when you're selling to both sides

The thought of Biden setting down with Putin to discuss nation state conflict is cringe worthy
Honestly don't know why it's happening. Obviously both sides have no interest in talking or calming tentions down.

If anything this opens up more problems than solving it. Putin has no reasons to back down & there is nothing Biden can say or do within reason to give Putin anything & vise-versa.

Biden will demand things, Putin will demand things, and within less of an hour it will end up right where we started.

I’m just hoping Biden doesn’t get irritated and call Putin a lying dog face pony solder

Direct quote from article
"The exercise has a strategic impact because it was designed to cultivate friendships between the Indonesian government, ASEAN countries and Russia," the navy said.
The two-stage drills involved eight warships and four aircraft from Russia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore and Brunei.
Aleksei Bolotnikov, commander of the Russian warship Admiral Panteleyev, was quoted as saying he hoped the next ASEAN-Russia exercise could take place in Vladivostok.
Russia and the Southeast Asian bloc held their fourth summit online in October, a meeting timed with the anniversary of relations between Russia and the 10-member regional grouping.
Philippine Foreign Secretary Teodoro Locsin urged China last month to "back off" after three Chinese coast guard vessels blocked and used a water cannon on resupply boats headed toward a Philippine-occupied atoll in the South China Sea.

China says the territory falls within its "nine-dash line", a boundary including almost all the South China Sea that a tribunal at the Hague in 2016 found lacked legal basis."

This is clearly Russia working with southeast Asia to pivot against China

Good catch and good to know as far as their exercises with asean.
There is also this.

The two taken in context together raises the question of what Russian goals are.
It could be that they just want to expand their presence in the western pacific.
In and of itself that’s Not necessarily nefarious. But taken together it still doesn’t indicate a pivot against China. Something to ponder.
It may not be meant as a pivot by Russia, but one of ASEAN's stated goal is to protect free travel through the sea. This is where they have butted heads with China. Russia even participating would not make them happy I imagine.
