Russia has invested in and built an entire new generation of strategic nuclear missiles. Where are ours? How many decades old are they again? Will our geriatric President or inept Congress be approving or funding new ones? How long will it take to place them in service? Will Russia and China wait around while we do this? These aren’t hard questions, but you can’t be assumptive close-minded about the answers either. I’ve seen many on this website just go with the naive “nobody can touch us” attitude. But…Anyone ever stop and give a thought about the fact that Russians and Chinese don’t think of war like we do in the West? Or is it easier to just sit there and pretend our conventional military superiority is all-encompassing while you offer smarmy remarks about people who are just pointing out the obvious. Russia has invested a shitload of time and money into the one area they probably understand matters most in the end…strategic nuclear missiles. We haven’t. It’s simple math really.

The average military age male wouldn’t remember the USSR at all. The Berlin Wall collapsed over 30 years ago. Maybe the after effects, sure, but I dunno

Could it be safe to assume all they know of it is what they’ve been told?
I saw a study saying 75% of Russians are nostalgic for the Soviet Union, so…maybe

Who knows. I’m not Russian.

The United States — $778 billion. China — $252 billion [estimated] India — $72.9 billion. Russia — $61.7 billion. on military spendings, so the US uses more then the next 3 nations combined.

How much of the US defence budget is spent on maintaining its overseas bases?
 
The US nuclear updates and maintenance budget is projected to cost 634 billion over next ten years.
That would be 63 billion a year. Slightly more that Russia’s entire military budget last year.

Remember the F-117 stealth showing up on the world stage in the gulf war over Baghdad in 1991 when it was the first plane to begin dropping guided munitions on command and control targets at night and most of the world had never heard of it.
Did you know it’s first mission was over Panama in 1989.
It was nothing but a rumored black plane with infrequent sightings for five years and then in 91 Oh yeah that’s our new stealth fighter bomber that is undetectable on known radar or thermal platforms.
What I have observed over time is the US doesn’t do military parades to show off their new secret black budget weapons. They answer questions after they’ve been used in combat and people take notice.

From things I have read in a diverse number of places over the years each reactor and fuel group used to begin the process of creating weapons grade fissionable material has a signature that stays with the material past detonation. From what I understand the daughter isotopes as well as the nuclear signature of whats left leads back to the origins.....

Wonder if this is related to the Osint thread regarding a nato rivet joint flight in the ne Black Sea and the command facility shelled about the same time.
Using nato rivet joint signal sniffer plane to help target a Russia command post that resulted in two Russian generals being killed.
This is just speculation that they are tied together on my part but something to consider.

On another subject entirely I came across reports of Russia having attacked and disabled or destroyed several railway bridges across the Dnjepr river. The source is here
This is an unknown source to me and they do not link what they report here to any other source..... anyone heard anything about this??

I understand that the equipment and procedure to do this can be pretty involved. I am no expert either. If any one with experience in these areas would or can(due security reasons) share whats involved it would be interesting.

You are right but you need to understand that it means possible usage WMD against Ukraine. They will deny and there is no way to convince that it was dropped/lauched from....

This upgrades should have been handled long ago. I’d love to believe we have some top secret weapons that could knock Russias newest missiles out of the sky, but I’d feel a lot more comfortable if we kept parity with their strategic nuclear forces.
