I'm surprised we went to 4. Seemed to me the situation has only escalated. Was it because of the 'alert fatigue'? If people can't handle being in a heightened state of alert prior to an exchange there's no way they're going to survive after it. Just sayin...

Unfortunately the US is better off NOT prepping the public in this way, YET…because it would send signals to our nuclear adversaries. Signals we do NOT want to send at the moment. There will, however, be a big loser, and that will be Europe, as usual. They will suffer the most in a full nuclear exchange due to their small land mass and crowded population centers.

The only real nuclear threat we face here in Australia is from China, and they seem to be staying the hell out of this one.

Another Aussie now you correct China is a threat. But they won't nuke us. They know they don't need to . They can easily invade us with minimal destruction. They want our land. Especially after a global nuclear war. Putin on the other hand has already told us in a 60 minute interview nearly a decade ago we are targets and explained why , what and where. The only advantage we have is distance between targets , limited strikes and being in the southern hemisphere. We are one of the most survivable countries in the world granted your not in a strike zone or down wind from one. Also should you be part of the 97% who believe a nuclear war wouldn't affect us. Think again. Let's say Australia isn't struck by a single nuclear weapon. This country as much as most can't survive alone. We don't have the infrastructure to be self sufficient. We don't have the food production to be self sufficient. We don't have the ability to be self sustainable alone. And alone is what we would be. Fuel gone food gone etc etc. Without northern hemisphere trade we wouldn't survive in current population. And it would be everyone everywhere for themselves. Pretty much like other survivors around the world from a global nuclear war. Everything as we know it . Gone.

Likely not at least initially.
You would have to significantly alter how you would deal with China.
China needs land. And I’m sure there are Oz politicians would love to profit from concessions.
Also I’m still waiting for a plausible explanation of a negotiated path forward.
