I just want to say how spot on US intel has been, even before the illegitimate invasion. Also want to point out how Russia has lied about every single intention through this whole crisis even before the invasion.
I just want to say if our DoD and IC intel cannot be accurate about 20th century conventional warfare tank movements, given the endless billions of dollars of GEOINT, IMINT, SIGINT, ELINT, etc., etc., etc., our satellites and drones and you name it, then God help USA. Meantime, we buried over a million Americans on something we didn't have good intelligence on over the past two years. So as much as I respect our IC on this, when they get better at actual defense of USA, I will be more grateful.

Being in the DC area, and standing there having to watch our own Pentagon in flames changed my attitude on offensive war in other countries as a priority. It wasn't too far from my office supporting DHS in Pentagon City at that time. If the plane had gone off target, I would not be here to type this and no one would be there to care for my family. I had friends at the Pentagon who lost friends in that attack on this country.

I have all the sympathy, concern, etc. for the Ukrainian people. But I want a Defense of the USA to be the USA Government's top priority with our taxpayer dollars. Because when push comes to shove, the world won't be coming to SAVE US. No one from any other country will be coming to help the 1 million dead Americans over past 2 years, including family I had to bury. No one from any other country will be coming to help defend our homes, cities, infrastructure. Watching the Pentagon burn 20 years ago also burned that into my consciousness. The USA and unfortunately, we as individuals, are on our own. No one is rescuing us. This is why we must be prepared - for our families and our communities.

Your right to a point. It is a balance that has to be honed and managed carefully.
If we don’t do enough on the international front fires build that impact our nation at home and abroad.
I’m listening to Anne Jacobsen’s book Surprise Kill Vanish.
In one chapter it tells of a cia agent in Khartoum who was the first westerner to get a clear photo of UBL. Not only that he had found his home his mosque’s he attended and the business and land holdings in Sudan he owned.
The agent knew what he was teaching and his growing followers. Even witnessed an assassination attempt on UBL’s life.”
He had worked up an plan to assassinate UBL.
It was shot down hard by his bosses or Washington.
This was during the Clinton admin. I’m not heaping blame on Clinton for it if it was him.
But almost all choices have consequences.

That said our defense planning and guarding of the nation at home.
Everything from a politically correct education system, to no boarders non policy, lack of civic education and civil defense.

It a balance and we haven’t done a very good job at it.
In the public policy and implementation sphere we have too many bureaucrats who are just punching a ticket and angling for a promotion.
Not enough professionals who actually give a shit and know their shit.
Carter’s civil service reform act hamstrung the ability of agency heads at the federal level to get rid of incompetent workers.

I just saw sickening video that I am not going to post of dead Russian soldiers in the areas they retreated. They must have been laying there for days with how decomposed they were. Eyeballs missing. I cant unsee this.

You are thinking as a rational leader would and are assuming Russia has the conventional means and morale to do so. Their military is a mess right now. I wish I could but I don’t see how this ends with Russia just evaporating away quietly in the wind.
Russia isnt going to "evaporate" and they arent going to use tactical nukes in ukraine. with the reduction of war aims clearly they see the situation they are in and a possible face saving way out.

Meanwhile Internet has more mentions of French specialists being present in Mariupol, 1648903230441.png .
Russian sources are reporting about their findings within the city - an interesting specimen of AT weaponry is Sweden, Saab Bofors AT4CS launcher, but a French-issue version has been found in Mariupol. Instructions on the launcher's body are made on French language, as well as the French military markings "ABL F1 AT4CS" (ABL stands for Anti Blindé Léger (Light Anti-Armour)). This is the first example of the French weaponry being found in Ukraine.

The kind of atrocities we are seeing now you usually don't see after six weeks of conflict. This war is extremely vicious and we can only pray it doesn't spread further into Europe.
Just be prepared, that the world will never be same. Post ColdWar era of peace, riches and tranquility is over. After this one, there will be other conflicts, many conflicts with other participants, and all of them will be if not at our land, but within our area of gravity - pulling away lots of the good from us.

Many asking me "when it will be all over?", by this question they mean "when it will be the same as before it all started?" all i can say is - NEVER. Not within our lifetime, that's for sure.

Less than a week ago the POTUS called for removing the President of Russia, and the only USA national security concern is about Will Smith.

I see the "balance" on actual national defense on threats (whether it is Russia, China, fill-in-the-blank) mainly pushed off to every individual USA citizen, with the general attitude of our representative about "the people" (whether our IC agents consider you "smelly Walmart people" or anyone else) such defense is "OUR problem." And this is true, it is OUR problem to defend ourselves, our communities, our families. Our problem to prepare and protect ourselves. Our problem to get our own information. Etc. No one is ever coming to "save" us; responsible people must think that way. Luckily, I grew up in a poor neighborhood where police never showed up, so I was trained from a child to know that we have to defend and protect ourselves. Expect "the system" to fail.

Our "representatives" have protection, shelters, etc., the average citizen has to figure it out for themselves - not even any public announcements on how to "prepare," other than a FEMA-managed generic manual from 20 years ago. Just like we had to figure out our own defense on 9/11, as our Pentagon burned and NYC's towers became a burning pit. Just like we had to figure out our own defense in January 2020, while everyone was talking about Colonel Vindman and the Ukraine, and it was obvious the COVID-19 pandemic was not going to simply "stay" in PRC. Just like we protected our own families and elderly while bipartisan adminstrations sat on 750 million N-95 masks (as 1 million died).

But still understanding that actual national defense is the USG "last priority," still there are things that could be done, whether threat is Russia or _____. We could get intelligence about what works best in emergency situations, sharing information on emergency communications networks. We could have emergency fuel centers organized to offset potential cyberinfrastructure attacks. During high-risk times, we could have USG allow a grace period of people to stock up on more than one month of medical prescriptions. We could have packets of KI sent to every household in USA. Like 750 million N-95 masks the Trump/Biden White Houses sat on, there are things they COULD do to help populations prepare to protect themselves. 350 million Americans paying taxes could get SOME public safety return on their "NatSec" investment.

You don't have to be anti-patriotic, Communist/Socialist, Putin apologist, etc. to realize the USA public do deserve better. We should have more defense choices in the spectrum between "total denial" and "run for the hills."

30 years ago, the USSR still existed with their continuous threat of thermo-nuclear war. What has really changed? They ("Russian Federation" eyeroll) and we have worse weapons, and "former USSR" has faster weapons now then they did then. Of course, the CCP regime PRC is a greater threat now as well. Etc. (****, USA cities were devastated by a handful of extremists with box-cutters on planes as our CIA sat on intelligence.) We have the global benefit of the World Wide Web on 1990s perverted into a World Wide Threat of using it to attack cyber-dependent infrastructure. We have the loss of analog television as a contingency for communications. We lost Civil Defense. Etc.

But we do have some advantages, and some decentralization may be helpful, as abandoning us also empowers us. We have found access to MORE information than our censors would have once allowed us. We have new types of tools with our ubiquitous cellphones, including local mesh network and Bluetooth networking from the phones themselves. We have access to more solar power alternatives. A lot of people have hybrid vehicles that can drive a short distance in an emergency without gas (and can reduce amount of gasoline they use). A lot of of us have KI. A lot of us have dosimeters and geiger counters. North Korea's years of EMP threats helped encourage more people have some very limited protection. And despite the USG, a lot of people even have N-95 masks.

Citizen21 - with respect, what we miss is communication and comments from more "21st century" preppers. We need thinking beyond thermonuclear war and bunkers to more realistic and potentially more short-term disruptive attacks. Protecting our families and communities has to be the realistic focus.

Will Smith is №3 savior after Putin and Coronavirus - a great distraction of American public from their internal problems. Media white noise. Keep your head down and don't look around you. And pay with your fortunes, freedoms and security so we could wage war on evil Hitler Putin.

By the way, everyone who is saying that this war is all bad guy Putin's idea, that he is the one to blame, and if "we remove him it will be over" - know, that this is bullshit. It is became evident after Stambul negotiations. When Medinsky wrongly (i don't think he is, i think that weak Kremlin has been trying the ground for retreat) mentioned outcome of talks - Russian society has become furious. The outrage within Russia was huge, the minute Medinsky slipped away these words. All Russian people, be it Putin supporters, Putin haters, everyone - promised death to him the moment he backs down from military operation or offer negotiations. Russian society has put trust in Putin and his incapable government of this task. Russian society is not afraid of hardships, war, sanctions and even nuclear warfare. They were unphased by petty attempts of Western media campaigns and sanctions. Western social engineers were applying their own logic upon Russian people and they were wrong. No Westerner can ever understand a Russian person.
Russian people are afraid of only one thing - a betrayal, from their own people. A betrayal from their superiors is the biggest fear and threat to a Russian. They said to Putin "it is all fine, just do you part, we'll handle the hardships and everything, just see it to the end", and the momend the government and Ministry of Defence mentioned deescalation, cease fire and backing down - within a moment, it created such an outrage and threat to current regime much bigger, than all years of work of Navalny and Western agencies all combined. It is an irony - this so-called "dictatorhip, authoritarian, totalitarian, criminal/put your own term"-Putin regime has been pushed against a wall by the regular folk. He has nowhere to run, he is cornered in that bunker of his. Many, who is talking against this operation and his regime - if not Western agents - are his former friends. He has went against most of his oligarchs and friends. He can't leave to any country where he declared non-grata, and if he displease the Russian society that put their trust on him, he won't be able to fly off - military will shoot down a plane of backstabbing parasite that failed them. So, right now there is only Putin and the people, nothing more. You can say this is just my point of view and it is biased, and i do not consider other groups views - well, come here and see it for yourself. I was surprised seeing some young hipster dude all culturally Westernized, throwing a tantrum in a cafe over Medinsky's statement of possible deescalation and withdrawal. Definitely not expected that.
The people basically put the gun to their government's back and said "continue". "If you choose this hard road, walk it until the end with us. Don't let our sacrifice be meaningless." It seems that, as of now, Russia has more democracy than your place, ironic.

And so, what do you think will happen if West manages to take out Putin from power? Do you really believe that they will let Russian society put somebody on chair, who will act within the interest of the people? No.
West will put a puppet that will start dismantling a Russian country - the one that starts to apologise to Ukrainian nation, will force Russian people to stand on knees before them just like you are standing on knees before black people and apologising. Will start re-writing or deleting history, discredit honor of heroes from Great Patriotic War. Will raise a wave of separatism and raise the violence within many republics that are the parts of Russian Federation, raising their hatred towards Russia, it's history and all forward to the next stage of hostilities - China, meanwhile starting deals with corrupt local administrations and sending Western companies to suck off resources from these lands. He will give away territorial claims to anyone who ask - Kaliningrad to Poland, Kurils to Japan, and many new other requests, while quietly eliminating Russian nuclear arsenal at the same time. The Russian nation will be over. Ain't that a dream?
Do you remember what Thatcher said? About how many people Russians need for real, from her view? Just enough to maintain oil and gas pipelines. How much this statement, in your opinion, differs from something like this? By me - not at all.

What will happen if Russian society manages to hold control over their own chair and put the man that will act within their interest? Nothing changes. Western media will keep screaming that new person, is again, a monster/a Hitler/Authoritarian/Totalitarian/Dictator and must go. it will be all the same if not worse. I'm all for removing trash Putin and putting new, younger, more advanced and modern-thinking government that is not a puppet, this outcome will be nightmarish for the West, they can't let that happen.

So, coming from this we can clearly see, that the real enemy of the West they are fighting against is not Putin, not his trash regime and his goons, because taking Putin down is meaningless.
The true enemy of the West is the Russian people. Whole Russian nation, and not just that - but all multi-national society.

Google announces rules on Ukraine-Russia war, based on "Dangerous or Derogatory content policy." "
"This pause includes, but is not limited to
I would note that Google News has been censoring data way beyond this policy for some time now in media using Russian language. I discovered this by accident about 2 weeks ago, when I started looking for reasons on Russia aircraft emergency landings, and discovered that all news references to the word "airlines" and several other words "emergency," etc. in Russian were all censored, but these stories were on Bing News. I didn't waste time looking everything up, as I have always had limited trust in what Google News chooses to view as "news," but I am confident that the censorship goes WAY beyond these new rules.

This is why Russia is leaving it's dead in Ukraine. So they can't confirm they died in Ukraine. Russian government as always will keep stealing and taking from it's own people, corruption at it's worse right here.

Can't prove they died in war means no compensation for Russian families... So horrid and rotten of Putin.

I see Russia is still putting out videos of them firing out into the distance. Interesting that they continue this amid the world's growing opinion that they are not having much success in Ukraine. You would think they would have more on scene images depicting their successes. I guess they expect the world to be in awe of their successful launches and use of their equipment? Interesting.

So, there are messages going in that Ukrainian and Russian sides has exchanged their wounded POW's.
Russians sent their POW Ukrainians that they were treating in Belgorod hospitals, and in exchange from Ukrainian side, they received... Russian wounded prisoners with cut off fingers and torn off genitals, and generally in a very bad shape, near death, infected wounds etc.
Russian public is furious, i can't even explain how much. Approval of war skyrocketed and they are asking the government to intensify the push, bring vengeance, kill everyone, erase everything.

I hope it won't be like that. Giving off POW's in such conditions seems stupid and pointless from Ukrainian (or any) side, but i see, that this is the special psychologist operation against Russian society, which is, as i explained above - the main engine of this war. My stake that this exchange staged by Western curators over Ukraine to escalate the war. By comitting such crimes they lure Russian society into an emotional trap of escalation. They are manipulating Russian society by sending them on emotional rollercoaster, that is currently heavily pressuring Putin and will start demand for vengeance, to escalate, intensify, which will end up exposing Russia to problems so deep, it will be unable to control and deal with.

With the utmost respect, don't you think you should atleast be aware that there is alot of disinformation coming from Russia on things in Ukraine. I know you may say that well, in the west there is alot of disinformation, and sure, that may be true.

But perhaps we can look at each side objectively, and realize that what we hear from our side may not be what is actually happening. Perhaps the Russians are treating Ukranian POWs in hospitals, perhaps even there are POWs being sent back to Russia with horrible mistreatment, but neither of those facts are absolute. Maybe they've been made up by the Russian government in order to spur support for the war. The motivation is certainly there.

I am not suggesting that such disinformation can't exist in the West, but there is a level of certainty to what you are saying that can be dangerous, and certainly makes you more easily controlled by the people that want you to think certain things.
