This whole situation just seems unreal. I wasn’t even this scared after 9/11. I was too young for Desert Storm but I remember how they were warning the public that we could lose a ton of our service men and women.
 
defcon has your stance that even if they do invade it wont escalate into ww3, and also how do you think the UK defcon status should look at the moment?

Well he hasn't led to believe any of those. Just sanctions. No military response. I'd say he is pretty confident due to military positions and only threat from West is sanctions.

Yeah I'm little concerned of sanctions putting the cost of living up aswell. But scared absolutely not.

As long as NATO shows no signs of involving itself, there is no reason to think it will escalate beyond a regional conflict.

If Russia starts making a beeline for Kyiv, this could change things.

The UK "defcon status" (what are they calling it these days?) shouldn't be any different.

I think it's time to admit intel and speculation assuming isn't worth shit. 2-3 times now incorrect. Putin won't jump because the west thinks so. And everytime predictions are made he and Xi must be sitting back giggling.

What do you think about Biden saying that Kyiv is a target? Would NATO still stay out of it?

They will unless they pull a Grozny killing a gross number of civilians. I don’t know how we could stay out of it then, as American, French and British people demand action

That's a good question. If Russia goes for Kyiv, that means they are going for the whole country and that will scare NATO.

Given the fact that heavy shelling has already started in the DNR area the videos of Russian tanks driving fast to get to their staging areas just means they are under a time crunch. Putin is going to wait for the Games in China to end so he doesn’t piss Xi off. After that it will start really soon. They didn’t evacuate the civilians in the Donetsk area for a party in Russia.

I think that area will be the last place they try to fight Ukraine head on. That makes no sense, to take on Ukraine on their strongly reinforced point, the Russians will attack from behind them and in the middle of the country while the forces in Belarus with Belarusian troops help take down the capital or at least encircle it until the bulk of the forces can get there and demand they give up peacefully.

Russia would be insane to hit the capital which could cause a nato intervention. More nations might even join NATO to help put an end to the genocide if Russia pulls a Grozny in the Capital or Odessa!

Most estimates have Russia encircling Kyiv right off the bat, especially the ones the US is talking about apparently based on intercepted communications. Do you mean Russia taking the whole country? Dont even know if we would get involved then even. (keep in mind that knowing this, after seeing this and expecting this to happen, still we keep swift off the table and state often that us troops and nato will not be involved unless this touches nato land)
