Why not?

He could easily walk out of that summit with no results. He could have to call it off because of a major event like…yknow, one of the million potential false flags he has supposedly has planned. But I’m glad Macron’s at least trying.

This isn’t in response to you @TruthandJustice but as a side note guys, try and remember. We might not be in any immediate danger right now, touchwood, but this war will be an absolute tragedy. Thousands will die and millions will lose everything for absolutely no reason - and the security and nature of Europe and the world will be changed drastically.
I feel for Ukraine. I really do. This is a crisis entirely of Putin’s making. If he’s so worried about Ukraine joining NATO, maybe he shouldn’t have fucking invaded Crimea and instead acted a bit more friendly.

If a war in Europe breaks out, it’ll be a damn shame. Is there much that could’ve been done? Outside of directly fighting Russia, which would be an awful idea to put it lightly, probably not. Perhaps we could’ve been slightly more receptive to Russia’s grievances, but their demands were absolutely ridiculous. Just a shame we’re back at square one

Anyway. Yeah.
Was just thinking. Maybe I should do less of it.
G’night
Japanese diplomats were participating in talks with the US government right up to the exact moment Pearl Harbor was bombed. A summit means nothing.

Oh, I do see an article about that. https://www.rt.com/russia/550040-ukraine-acquire-nuclear-weapon/ It misquotes Ukraine, though I can see that interpretation.
I went as far as to actually watch the original video. You all own me for listening to this. 1 hour 06 minutes in, here https://vesti7.ru/video/2386141/episode/20-02-2022/

Summary:

- Zelenskiy announced Ukraine could quit the Budapest memorandum
- These claims should not be viewed lightly
- Ukraine has 4 nuclear stations capable of producing plutonium
- Ukraine has a physics institute that participated in creation of nuclear weapons, it might have some remaining documents needed
- Ukraine doesn't have means of delivery, but construction facility "Zenit" used to produce Zenit space rockets, last one was launched 5 years ago. Theoretically they can restore the production.

Summary: Ukraine has no means of mass-producing a nuclear bomb, but theoretically they can restore the process within some timeframe and they might use it for putting pressure/blackmail. I don't see anything even closely resembling Bush WMD situation.

Honestly anyones opinions considering Polands view? Shouldn't feel screwed from both sides. NATO-Russia. References history. Future history. 🤔🧐😒🤣 on the off chance of tensions. Independent action thankfully controlled by nato? One side. And Belarus -russia otherside. Hmm I believe those in control of said possibilities have exactly that.🤞 but seriously Belarus and polish may well shoot happy.
And Poland well you can only imagine the pressure they are in due to possibilities and positions. Any thoughts? Imagine no control from higher up . This shit could go stupid. To be honest I'm surprised Poland hasn't allied and independently moved part feet on ground in Ukraine for Poland. Not Ukraine. And deterrence to Russia. Their threats just doubled for Poland-belarus border with additional military -belarusian + Russian military. Without Russian control and military on Ukraine-poland border. Realistically for Poland it would be a suicidal move. On the otherside it could be suicidal if not now but near future should they don't act. Yeah right all about Ukraine. Poland as much as Belarus can not be trusted to not escalate for either sides ambition. Or either sides total disbelief..🤔🙄🧐😏😒🤨🤞.as in Russia and nato. Not seeing independent action.

Gives more credence to the theory that this is all because he is scared of a prosperous Ukraine hurting his popularity at home.
Prosperous Ukraine is a bit of an overstatement. Here are some numbers from English wikipedia and worldbank report for 2020

Russia
GDP per capita, US$ 11.658
Lower middle-income poverty rate ($3.2) 0.2%
Upper middle-income poverty rate ($5.5) 2.3%
Gini index 37.5
Life expectancy at birth, years 72.1

Ukraine
GDP per capita, US$ 4.958
Lower middle-income poverty rate ($3.2) 0.4%
Upper middle-income poverty rate ($5.5) 4.0%
Gini index 26.1
Life expectancy at birth, years 71.8

The only positive thing for Ukraine is lower Gini index, but considering the rest of these numbers it still loose by a lot. Ukraine economy did not bloom during the more or less calm years of 2015 to 2021. Gini index was growing, corruption index spiked. Reforms struggled.

Putin calls for an unscheduled Security Council meeting today.
"This is a big Security Council," he said.
The head of state himself and other speakers will speak at it. The Kremlin spokesman stressed that the meeting would be extraordinary (unplanned).

"The president also has several international telephone calls today," Peskov added.
