What you are posting is minimizing the situation. Russia has active duty military present on another sovereign nation's soil, a nation whose borders they agreed to observe and guarantee in exchange for giving up their nuclear weapons. A nation whose borders the United States agreed to guarantee in exchange for giving up their nuclear weapons. So far, the only party to have kept their word on this agreement is the country being invaded.
This is an INVASION by every definition of the word, and it is NOT OKAY.

If Russia's troop deployment to Ukraine is only Donbass, specifically the rebel-controlled area, then it's hardly the big invasion Biden is making it out to be and nothing as changed except the Russian military is more openly defending the separatists. Definitely no need to go to DEFCON 3 yet and Biden is making a mistake if he goes through with sanctions.
Get out of here with that. This is a invasion and NO ONE can twist it any other way.
Who's to say Putin-on -the-fritz will stop at Donbass?

I recognized what you were shooting for.
The problem is unfortunately at this point there is no calming it down. Putin has waited a decade for this and he has set the course and he will now keep pushing till there is military push back.
It might calm down but the push for more will continue.
Some might not like it some might even hate it most will just deny it. But it will take a military confrontation to stop it.
THAT Does not mean full in war or nuclear war but it does put Europe and the world in a very dangerous place right now.
So if Mexico just throw down their arms and let US in and take over would not be labeled a invasion because no major military conflict came of it? No any country moving into another country even without conflict is still a INVASION TAKING INTERNATIONAL RECOGNIZED TERRITORY.

Again, minimizing the situation. You would be okay with Mexico sending troops into San Diego because they all of a sudden claim it as their territory? Because that's the exact same fucking thing.
No, there is no need to go to DEFCON 3 because this is pretty much what we expected. That has nothing to do with it. I'm tired of seeing people claim "it's no big deal because they were already there."
Tell that to the Ukrainian citizens who are going to die defending their country from an invading force.

No I disagree if the nation doesn’t try to defend their boarders or works at getting them repatriated then they have forfeited the right to rule it.
It’s said in jest but possession and willingness to defend it is 9/10 of it

What is your solution then? starting a war with Russia on principle? pushing outselves into another Cold War? Helping Ukraine doesn’t benefit us in the slightest, we’re already far to invested in this mess in the first place. I think good relations with Russia and more arms reduction talks (including complete nuclear disarmament) is worth more than Ukraine.

My solution would have been to stand up to Russia in 2014 as the agreement we signed dictated us to do. And, yes, we were honor-bound by that agreement to risk a war with Russia on principle. Ukraine held up their end of the bargain, and ten years later the US fucked them over by allowing Russia to invade Crimea. And, yes, that was most certainly an invasion as well regardless of how Russian sympathizers want to spin it.
News flash for you: We're already in another Cold War. Have been for several years now.
And so your excuse for inaction on the part of the US is "Ukraine means nothing to us, so fuck 'em?" Then why bother signing any agreements? Why bother with treaties? Why bother with alliances? The United States has proven to the world that we no longer have the balls to help the little guy stand up to the playground bully. If we'd taken on that attitude in the 1940s, you'd be speaking German right now.

I would point out that their have been KC-35 refuelers in the air over central Poland for at least the last four days in a row. Yesterday their were two, a US and a NATO one from England. They are not just their for Rivet Joint or other Cignet plane.
