Why are NATO even doing this ridiculous posturing since it’s obvious Russia aren’t ever going to attack a NATO member.
The Baltic States are nervous. In Putin's speech, he basically threatened any post-Soviet state. We're sending troops to the Baltics to reassure our NATO allies there. Plus, don't forget that the Suwalki Gap is one of our biggest vulnerabilities.

Biden said that he will send more troops to NATO borders. I hate the feeling that there are NATO troops moving because of this. When NATO troops move in an unusual way it means that we are in a really nasty situation. Plus: it's actually useless, the only thing it does is increase tensions, because Putin will never attack NATO troops/soil.
I wouldn’t be so sure of that based on his lunatic speech yesterday. The guy is losing his mind and is clearly not well.

There is a significant belief in Russia that if they can strike fast enough and steal territory we might not respond.
I tend to lean toward this notion myself. I think that Putin will attempt to grab as much as he can while the rest of the world is trying to figure out what to do about it. While they sanction him and threaten him, he will claim as much as he can and position himself for what he wants in the future.

Why waste money because they are nervous tho? Article 5 is like the ultimate defence, and if that isn’t enough for them they can get fucked lol

As it stands, Russia could easily take the Baltic states. Some hawkish Russian elements might wonder, if Russia were to blitzkrieg in, whether Nato would dissolve if faced with the prospect of having to risk Armageddon to retake the Baltics. I'm all for showing resolve now to protect our flanks.

This is where the airborne divisions will be crucial. Need to be able to react quickly in deployment.
