Ukraine Strikes Russian Strategic Bombers at 4 Bases​

A Ukrainian drone attack has destroyed more than 40 Russian planes deep in Russia’s territory


“The drones reportedly hit 41 planes stationed at several airfields on Sunday afternoon, including A-50, Tu-95 and Tu-22M aircraft..”




Russia on Sunday launched the biggest number of drones — 472 — on Ukraine since the full-scale invasion in February 2022

“Russian forces also launched seven missiles alongside the barrage of drones, said Yuriy Ignat, head of communications for the air force.”
The <Russian attack> strike occurred at 12:50 p.m., the statement said, emphasizing that no formations or mass gatherings of personnel were being held at the time.

Those airframes are no longer being actively manufactured, so any losses are likely to be irreplacable (same as with the US B-2s).

This is a mortal blow to the bomber portion of the Russian Triad. Personally I expect tactical air to be impressed and more/longer sub sorties. Holy Cr#p.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed on Sunday prospects for settling the conflict in Ukraine and Russia-Ukraine talks set for Monday in Turkey, Russian news agencies quoted Lavrov's ministry as saying.

The agencies also quoted the ministry as saying that during the conversation, Rubio expressed condolences over deaths that occurred when two bridges were blown up in separate Russian regions bordering Ukraine.
