Lukashenka is on a three-day(!) "informal" trip to Russia where he'll meet with Putin. Looks unscheduled.

“The president works in the Moscow region. Today, Thursday and Friday, President of Belarus Lukashenko is here on an informal trip. In Zavidovo today they have informal communication,” the Kremlin spokesman said.

Russians Focus Firepower to Seize 2 Villages in East Ukraine

KYIV, Ukraine — The Russian military expanded its grab of territory in eastern Ukraine on Thursday, capturing two villages and vying for control of a key highway in an offensive that could cut supply lines and encircle some frontline Ukrainian forces, British and Ukrainian military chiefs said.
Britain's defense ministry said that Ukrainian forces had withdrawn from some areas near the city of Lysychansk, the latest major battlefield in Russian President Vladimir Putin's war against Ukraine, to avoid the possibility of being encircled as Russians sent in reinforcements and concentrated their firepower in the area.

Shoigu: "Circumstances dictate the need to take urgent joint measures to strengthen the defense capability of the Union State, increase the combat readiness of the regional grouping of troops (forces) and the unified regional air defense system," Shoigu said at a meeting with Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin in Moscow.

The minister added that this issue is becoming more and more urgent today, and Russia is ready to provide "any support to Belarusian friends" in this.

One of the Russian newssites is reporting that the French ambassador has been expelled from Russia, but if you read the deails it seems that the expulsion concerns "an employee of the embassy", and not the actual ambassador. Could be a misinterpretation on the part of whoever wrote this snippet. Trying to find confirmation.

Note: this allegedly occurred last Friday.

Update: sources indicate that it was indeed an embassy employee who got expelled, and not the ambassador. They also fixed the headline.
