The entire Russian advance seems like the movie Battle of the Bulge...where the advancing German Panzer columns just ran out of gas and had to abandon their tanks, lol. If this is true, this is just incredible.

What makes this really sad is despite the mile long list of logistic errors. Putin just keeps on going and going. This is how I play a RTS not real life.
The same was thought, as well as a bridge too far (Market Garden), in the battle for the airport near KyevThe entire Russian advance seems like the movie Battle of the Bulge...where the advancing German Panzer columns just ran out of gas and had to abandon their tanks, lol. What makes this sad is that Ukraine isn't bombing that stalled convoy. What makes this really sad is despite the mile long list of logistic errors. Putin just keeps on going and going. This is how I play a RTS not real life.
They know they are out of fuel and they want to recover them as spoils of war. What makes this sad is that Ukraine isn't bombing that stalled convoy.
Or this equipment. Listen, I get the strategic value in seized assets, especially if they're usable assets.. but how long before they start booby-trapping equipment? What makes this sad is that Ukraine isn't bombing that stalled convoy.
Every time I see a video of someone looking over a seemingly functional tank or other vehicle I wince thinking man that thing could blow up.Or this equipment. Listen, I get the strategic value in seized assets, especially if they're usable assets.. but how long before they start booby-trapping equipment? The thought makes me sick to my stomach.
And the government will decide what is "false information".Dont know if it's been mentioned yet here but, Duma is voting on law that makes "dissemination of false information regarding military operation in Ukraine" a federal felony, tomorrow. That's basically why you see Russians quieting down now. Putin is entering full government terror mode.
New to this forum. I was reading over this thread and I was thinking something similar. Or what if they place a GPS tracker on "abandoned" vehicles for later targeting.Every time I see a video of someone looking over a seemingly functional tank or other vehicle I wince thinking man that thing could blow up.
The only explanation that makes sense is that the decision was kept so close to the vest that they just weren't ready to go and the troops in the field just didn't think it was happening. The bad news for Ukraine is that as badly as things are going, Russia is still taking ground and still creating very difficult conditions for the Ukrainians. Seems like it's going about as badly as it could but it's like one of those week 1 college football games where the heavy favorite is playing terribly and yet it's still 13-3 Big State U in the second quarter. If the reports of the scale of logistics issues Russia is facing are true then I'm just stunned. How do you bungle things this badly? This has honestly changed my entire calculus on the capability of the Russian military, there seems to be deep issues at the command level, strategic and tactical thinking errors, and a rolling disaster of a logistics train. And to think this is all in their own backyard, imagine how much worse this could be were they to try and really project power at a distance.
