United States Navy has deployed a carrier strike group within operational range of Ukraine. A move specifically aimed at providing Washington with options for intervention in Ukraine.
Navy Secretary Carlos Del Toro said its mission included “deterring” Russia and implementing a potential no fly zone over Ukraine should the White House give the order, stressing: “The role of Truman, with other allies, is to deter Russians from further aggression and to be on constant standby for orders that might be given from our president or from other leaders around the world for the protection of Ukraine and the people of Ukraine.”
The commander added regarding the presence of Russian assets near to the strike group’s area of operations: “There are numerous Russian ships and subs in the Mediterranean today and that’s why it’s important for NATO to have an equal presence, to deter them. The only thing that Putin understands is strength.”
It’s not even in the Black Sea, they’re Facebook Page says that they were in Souda Bay 9 hours ago. https://www.airlant.usff.navy.mil/P...-gaulle-conduct-joint-operates-in-ionian-sea/

The United States Navy has deployed a carrier strike group build around the Nimitz Class supercarrier USS Harry Truman to the Mediterranean Sea within operational rangemilitarywatchmagazine.com
You’re sure this is the same group? It’s not even in the Black Sea, they’re Facebook Page says that they were in Souda Bay 9 hours ago. https://www.airlant.usff.navy.mil/P...-gaulle-conduct-joint-operates-in-ionian-sea/
It says “Truman” in the transcript Dark Noon posted, it is in the Mediterranean to conduct drills and deterrence posturing. It was as I recall in the Black Sea a few weeks ago to help Romania in deterrence posture on March 02, 2022You’re sure this is the same group?
Okay, I have a problem with this article's headline. There is no quote from the navy commander about possibly implementing a no-fly zone. What Navy Secretary Carlos Del Tor said was, "The role of Truman, with other allies, is to deter Russians from further aggression and to be on constant standby for orders that might be given from our president or from other leaders around the world for the protection of Ukraine and the people of Ukraine." The commander went on to say "There are numerous Russian ships and subs in the Mediterranean today and that’s why it’s important for NATO to have an equal presence, to deter them. Didn't think I would get a comfirm or bust on that article so quickly. Thanks for the great work as always from the community! To quell any concerns:
The Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group is located in the Aegean Sea right now with NATO forces. They are not in the Black Sea. Anyone saying otherwise is lying.
They aren't even in battle positions.
I read it as being deployed, not that they were there right now.To quell any concerns:

I’m just confused about where exactly this was said. Did we miss something? Do these people have an inside source or something? I know nothing about themOkay, I have a problem with this article's headline. There is no quote from the navy commander about possibly implementing a no-fly zone. See "no-fly" in there anywhere? Nope.
Those statements could mean anything. Maybe it does mean a no-fly zone. Certainly the fact that he said "protection of Ukraine and the people of Ukraine" concerns the heck out of me.
But no one said anything about a "no-fly" zone. That was the editor editorializing.
Radar isn't reflecting any enhanced movements. That's why I said it isn't happening.I read it as being deployed, not that they were there right now.
Not sure that they would divulge actual movements on Facebook....at least I hope not, lol. It’s not even in the Black Sea, they’re Facebook Page says that they were in Souda Bay 9 hours ago. https://www.airlant.usff.navy.mil/P...-gaulle-conduct-joint-operates-in-ionian-sea/
I’m not sure on this but I don’t believe a carrier strike group could even enter the BS. There are treaty limits on how many non-ported naval vessels can be in the black see at any one time.I read it as being deployed, not that they were there right now.
