Official FB account of IGSU, General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, Romania:

A short time ago, in the municipality of Galați, a drone crashed into a residential apartment block. The impact was followed by an explosion and the outbreak of a fire in an apartment located on the 10th floor.

Forces and equipment from ISU Galați are responding at the scene to limit the effects of the incident and secure the area, supported by other MAI personnel and specialized SRI teams.

Two people who were inside the burning apartment self-evacuated. So far, no victims have been identified.

The mission is ongoing, and we will return with official information and data as they become available.

Two people with abrasions are receiving medical care at the scene.

So far, no other drones have been identified.

The fire has been extinguished.

Also, an investigation team specialized in explosions, made up of police officers from the Criminal Investigation Directorate and the National Institute of Forensics within the IGPR, is on its way to the intervention site.

Based on checks carried out by SRI specialists at the scene, the drone’s entire explosive payload detonated.

Evacuation of the other stairwells of the building is not required.

Total people evacuated or self-evacuated: approximately 70.

Bolojan, from Chisinau: We asked for NATO military technique

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan is in Chisinau and will not attend the CSAT meeting, scheduled at 11.00.

He announced, from Chisinau, that he agreed with the Foreign Ministry to propose diplomatic actions in the CSAT on sanctions for Russian diplomats in Bucharest.

Bolojan said he agreed with the Ministry of Defense to take steps to ask NATO allies to transfer military technologies that Romania does not have:

“We agreed with the Ministry of Defense to take all steps to ask NATO allies for the transfer of military technologies that we do not have today, which are related to anti-aircraft capabilities, to radars that can scan at low altitudes in such a way as to have at our disposal military technique that takes into account what happens in today’s wars and the new techniques related to drones.”

Romania’s Defence Ministry says it signed four major EU SAFE contracts by today’s legal deadline. The package includes 298 IFVs/derivatives, SKYNEX/SKYRANGER/Millennium air defense systems, maritime patrol ships, diver boats, and 401,760 rounds of 35mm AHEAD ammunition.
