Finland’s Interior Ministry says the Government has renewed the closure of eastern border crossing points with Russia. The decision, made June 4, keeps the crossings closed until further notice. Finland says the risk of renewed Russian instrumentalized migration remains likely if the crossings reopen.
Sweden and Brazil say they are deepening defence industrial cooperation around Gripen and C-390 aircraft. The joint statement cites ongoing talks for Brazil to acquire 20 additional Saab Gripen E/F fighters, Sweden’s decision to acquire the C-390 Millennium, and the June 2 rollout of the first F-39F two seat aircraft produced by Saab in Linköping.
Danish Defence says Denmark is participating in BALTOPS with the frigate Absalon, an accompanying SeaHawk helicopter, and Naval Staff commanding a group of warships from Absalon. The exercise involves soldiers, warships and combat aircraft from 16 NATO nations and runs in the Baltic Sea through June 19.

President Volodymyr Zelensky told lawmakers from his Servant of the People party in late May that Kyiv sees what he described as a realistic opportunity to end the war, according to two people familiar with the matter.
Estonia will host NATO medical exercise Vigorous Warrior 2026 from June 8th through 20th. The Estonian Defence Forces says the exercise will bring together 2,000 participants from 32 Allied and partner nations to train casualty management, evacuation, higher level treatment, civil military medical cooperation, and interoperability on NATO’s eastern flank.
Switzerland says roughly 4,000 Swiss military personnel will support civil authorities for security around the June 15th through 17th G7 summit in Évian-les-Bains, France.
DDPS says support includes sensitive site protection, border support, reinforced air policing, Lake Geneva and road surveillance, cyber capacity, counter drone capabilities, and NBC protection.

Finland’s Ministry of Defence says NATO Forward Land Forces Finland is officially founded on June 6, 2026. The EU’s military exercise MILEX 26 moved into its Battle Staff Training phase on June 6, running through June 9. The broader exercise is designed to test and improve the EU’s Rapid Deployment Capability, a crisis response force concept of up to 5,000 personnel, replacing/building beyond the old EU Battlegroup model.

Ukraine’s civil nuclear infrastructure took another hit overnight: Interfax Ukraine, citing Energoatom, reports that a Russian UAV struck the Centralized Nuclear Spent Fuel Storage Facility site at around 02:10 local time on June 7.
