The UK launched a European deep precision strike initiative, with around 12 countries set to invest $50 billion / £37 billion over 10 years into systems intended to strike at least 300 km, with some exceeding 2,000 km.
NATO Allies launched multinational High Visibility Projects for a generic NATO 155mm munition and ground based precision strike capabilities, including work on new launchers and missiles. NSPA also supported framework contracts for additional 155mm ammunition and loitering munitions.
The UK will assume command of NATO Joint Force Command Norfolk in September 2026, with Lt Gen Nick Perry becoming the first British officer to lead the Atlantic, UK, High North and northern Europe command.

France is among the Allied nations participating in NATO’s Forward Land Forces Finland, a new multinational force established to strengthen deterrence and defence on NATO’s northern flank.
The force is centered on a Swedish battalion size battlegroup with rapid transfer capability into Finland and a Multinational Staff Element in Rovaniemi.

NATO says Denmark, Finland, Germany and Norway announced procurement of up to five MQ-4C Triton high altitude, long endurance uncrewed aircraft to enhance NATO owned ISR. The aircraft will support maritime surveillance, early threat detection and operations in demanding regions including the Arctic and High North.

Poland says NATO will strengthen its fuel supply chain, including dual use fuel pipelines running east from western Germany toward Poland and the Baltic states, and south toward the Visegrád states. NATO says the package totals €27 billion for modernizing fuel storage, distribution and new facilities.
Romania, Bulgaria and Türkiye signed an amendment expanding the Mine Countermeasures Black Sea Task Group mission to include protection of critical undersea infrastructure. Romania says the task group’s 11th activation runs until July 24th.
The UK and Türkiye signed a new Security & Defence Partnership at the NATO Summit in Ankara, covering deterrence and defence, military cooperation, defence industry and technology, cyber security, hybrid threats, counterterrorism, resilience and space.
