The White House said United States envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will travel to Islamabad, Pakistan, on Saturday for talks with Iran, but a spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry said “no meeting is planned to take place between Iran and the US”, and Tehran’s “observations would be conveyed by Pakistan”.
MarineTraffic data analyzed by NBC News shows that two sanctioned ships moved through the Strait of Hormuz on Friday night into Saturday morning. One of the ships, a tanker named Ocean Jet, is on the U.S. sanctions list for its role in allegedly facilitating and financing the clandestine sale of Iranian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
Another ship, the Curacao-flagged Lumina Ocean, travelled through the Strait from the Persian Gulf after previously making the reverse journey earlier in April. The ship has been sanctioned since last December by the U.S., which classifies it as part of Iran’s “shadow fleet” of petroleum tankers.
