Trump on Oman, Strait of Hormuz: Behave ‘or we’ll have to blow ’em up’​

President Trump on Wednesday suggested the U.S. would attack Oman if it sought to control the Strait of Hormuz with Iran, saying the country would have to “behave or we’ll have to blow ’em up.”

“We’ll watch over it, but nobody’s going to control it. That’s part of the negotiation that we have. They would like to control it; nobody’s going to control it. It’s international waters. And Oman will behave just like everybody else, or we’ll have to blow ’em up. They understand that. They’ll be fine.”

The context is missing.

Trump was asked "Would you allow a short term deal that allows Iran and Oman to control the Strait?"

Very clearly, Trump meant Iran when he said Oman. We know this from how he answered the question.

"And Oman will behave just like everybody else, or we’ll have to blow ’em up."

That is phrasing he has always used when talking about Iran.
