Urgent | Chinese Foreign Ministry: Washington should stop strengthening military contact with Taiwan or arming it by any means or under any pretext
China opposes planned U.S. visit by Taiwan vice president
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A cross-strait conflict simulation exposed gaps in the U.S. and Japan’s communication and readiness to defend Taiwan, two participating former U.S. officials said in a Nikkei interview.
The Japan Forum for Strategic Studies (JFSS) convened Japanese and U.S. military experts in mid-July to simulate a blockade of Taiwan by China’s People's Liberation Army (PLA). Taiwanese defense scholars were also invited to Tokyo to attend the two-day tabletop exercise as observers.
The response largely focused on battlefield management and collaborative defense measures. This reflects Japan’s shifting foreign policy toward Taiwan following the notion, “A Taiwan emergency is a Japanese emergency, and therefore an emergency for the Japan-U.S. alliance,” first asserted by former Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo in 2021.

It will be a routine meeting where both sides discuss the next phase of the U.S.-Taiwan Initiative on 21st-Century Trade and other bilateral cooperation, Deng told CNA.
The USTR's office said the planned meeting will be held behind closed doors, while Taiwan's representative office in the U.S. noted the talks would focus on routine operations.

Taiwan needs a communication system robust enough to withstand a Chinese invasion – The obvious candidate is Elon Musk’s Starlink.
But Musk’s remarks about Taiwan’s sovereignty and his close business ties to China complicate any deal.

Sincerest your worst regards and much shade from America.![]()
This just shows that the world economy does not need Russia to survive. In fact it is thriving without Russia.
The only few countries left on this entire planet that still trades with Russia are the only countries no one else but Russia is willing to step down into the "gutter" in with and trade with or deal with due to the horrific crimes against humanity the dictators are guilty of. (We all know what countries I'm referring too)
As they say you are judged by the company you keep. That speaks many words with Russia.

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — An Army major surnamed Ho (何) has been detained for allegedly spying for China in one of the most serious national security breach cases in Taiwan amid heightened cross-strait tensions.
The defense ministry confirmed on Wednesday (Aug. 9) Ho was placed in incommunicado detention for his role in handing secrets to China. His case is part of an ongoing investigation that saw an Army lieutenant colonel, surnamed Hsieh (謝), detained following raids last month.
Ho is a serving commander at the Huadong Defense Command and is said to have provided classified information to a former Army major surnamed Hsiao (蕭), who retired in April from a teaching post at the Chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense (CBRN) training center, reported Liberty Times.
TAIPEI – Ten Chinese air force planes entered Taiwan's air defense zone on Wednesday, accompanying five Chinese warships engaged in "combat readiness" patrols, the island's defense ministry said. It was the second such incursion this week.
Taiwan, which China claims as its territory, has repeatedly complained of Chinese military activity near its borders, as Beijing tries to force the island to accept its sovereignty.
