US - RU | Continuing Escalation Over Syria

Footage of four USAF (

) F-22 Raptors at Muwaffaq Salti AB, Jordan (
🇯🇴
). The jets were deployed to the region on June 9 ''in the wake of increasingly unsafe and unprofessional behavior by Russian aircraft in the region.''

Russian aircraft damages US drone flying over Syria

United States Air Forces Central said the U.S. MQ-9 drone was conducting a mission targeting ISIS forces

I wish we weren't such pussies. We should be shooting their plane down.

Russia is flying in Syrian airspace at the request of the Syrian government. The United States is flying drones over Syrian airspace, without Syria's approval. If anything, Russia and/or the Syrian military has the right to shoot down the US drone for violating Syrian airspace. We can argue all day about why the United States still has military personnel in Syria, but at the end of the day, the United States is occupying land in eastern Syria and using Syrian airspace without approval of the Syrian government.

Russia is unlikely to go any further than this and the Syrian government will absolutely not doing anything because Assad doesn't want to be dead by Thursday. Regardless, the US isn't the victim here.

Even if i think Russia must be put out of Syria etc... Monarch isn't technically wrong with his post. Technically, USA is in Syria without approval of the Syrians ( so it's technically an occupation ).

Sure, there is other ways to solve that than attacking USA drone ( or shooting down RU planes ), but USA cannot be totally considered a victim here

Just advise that any future threatening acts will have immediate retaliatory response. Issue the response once only ever to the Russian government and then from then on blow the Russian jet out of the sky. They may be able to replace the plane but pilots will always be an issue. It will also get the message that the west and allies have had enough from Russia. Preempt their responses and step up to let putin know he can be got anywhere just like they did with Gidaffi years ago.

I understand and agree with your argument in the larger context.

I do have an emotional attachment to the Kurds. It is an autonomous region that has been so for a long time. Much longer than the modern boarder lines that were drawn for the ME.

I don’t want US military in Syria in General.

That said whatever reasonable measures that the US can be do to help shield the Kurds is proper in principle and as a strategic policy.

I could be mistaken but this is just my inclination
