What Would Spark A Nuclear War Between China And The US?

1.) Tade an Economic Blockade of Taiwan.
Give it a couple weeks with no high-end manufacturered semiconductors flowing in the Western markets and see how fast we are to react.

Our entire Western World depends A LOT on what Taiwan makes, not all of it but a good chunck. A week without their semiconductors and you just effectively hung the Western economies to dry up and die. You think where just going to sit by and let that happen? Nope!

I think in order for it to be successful they would almost certainly have to take out US forces in the closest surrounding countries, and / or US naval assetts.

2.) A Invasion Of Taiwan
It would be a slipper slope and for all the same reasons above why we would go to war over a blockade is pretty much the same for a invasion.

Western Economies have put all their chips on Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan for semiconductors of which Taiwan makes the most out of the three.

We will not and cannot let that flow be interrupted or we are royally screwed. No semiconductors = no modern western society/weapons and you can't build these factories overnight either...

Really? You think just a blockade or even an invasion would go straight to nukes?
Yes I elaborated why ⤵️

Just on a pure business level we have to act or face certain economic and civil carnage once the masses can't buy their latest video game consoles or MOST IMPORTANTLY once major corporations or the government cannot buy or fix their computers systems anymore... which you know every businesses from ma' an pa' stores to the major chains ENTIELY depends on to function.

China won't use nukes unless nukes are used against them. They would much prefer a conventional war with anyone - everyone. Russia and China are totally different in this regard. In saying that Russia are doing extremely well considering their situation currently with Western backup for Ukraine and nato expansion. Back to topic China is a different adversary with different opinions, beliefs and goals. I don't see a nuclear exchange between China and the west unless the west are losing their war.

No one wants to be the first to attack, let alone push the metaphorical button. But when times are tough, when things get hot, in the heat of the moment people who would normally not make rash decisions tend to do so under pressure.

The kinda a pressure when the government can't fix its systems, build new weapons, or the private business sector crippling because it can't maintain/replace its computer systems they entirly rely on to operate.

Yea we will act if necessary. We won't have a choice.

I don't see nuke use over Taiwan at all. China has abilities to destroy its targets with Kinetic weapons etc. They will happily use all other options before considering nuclear. America is the wild card in this instance. Unless their mainland is struck they better have bloody good reason of which I don't see any .

Let's say that China attacks Taiwan.

The U.S. intervenes.

What do you think would have to happen for this whole thing to go nuclear?
A carrier sent to the region is sunk or significant naval losses for the US. US bases in the pacific are destroyed by missile strikes.
On the flip side, the Chinese might opt to go nuclear if they start losing big time to the US Navy.

So, if we get a bloody shooting match I see a real potential for nuclear escalation.

The US would try diplomacy first, failing that, they'd send in the Navy. I doubt they'd go straight for the nuclear option. I disagree with DN there.

they'd send in the Navy.
We (US) would have to break the blockade or stop the invasion, otherwise face total economic devastation and carnage in the West after sometime without a solid supply of semiconductors.

When US & Chinese military engage over a blockade or invasion it will be a fast slippery slope to nuclear escalation ONCE one side starts to lose conventionally.

Well I'd like to think that if the US & Chinese navy started duking it out, taking significant losses, they would realise they're standing at the edge of the abyss of nuclear holocaust.
Just because they're in a significant naval conflict doesn't mean escalation is certain. Sure, it's likely, but there's a chance it could de-escalate once everyone realises just how much there is to lose.
