Are We On The Precipice Of World War III?
Countless potential black swan events could spark a collapse of our fragile geopolitical order
ANALYSIS | GLOBAL CRISES

The world today is vastly more complex. In 1913, there were approximately 61 sovereign states, but the key players were the major European empires like Great Britain, Russia, France, and Germany. Today, there are 195 countries, each striving for their place on the world stage as they pursue their national interest. It is impossible to calculate the potential number of black swan events capable of jostling the geostrategic network sufficiently to collapse it on top of itself.

The problem as I see it is that aggressive nations like Russia and China now see the U.S. as aggressive. This is dangerous as they now have a "legitimate" enemy. Before they were just talking themselves up. Now their Boogie Man has become real.

Once you've becomes assured of your own morality, anything is on the table.

But the US is aggressive too! The US is just as dangerous as the other two.
Yet another American denying reality.

I wasn't commenting on what the US is. Only how it is perceived, because that is what is important. What the US actually is is irrelevant.

The US could be a world-stopping monster. If no one thinks it is, then nothing is going to happen.

On the other hand, the US could be a passive isolationist. But if the country of Franistan thinks the US is out to get them, then Franistan is going to do something about it. (I Love Lucy reference, anyone?)

So another, yeah we admit Russia and China are aggressive. But it’s somehow wrong, or dangerous, for the US to be aggressive in response?

Another dead circular logic thread

n fact, since you've already declared me your enemy because I don't think like you, then forget about me!

Same arguments as opposing what actions the US may or may not take.

“ let me speak and have my say without suffering a response”

This is a public forum, we come here to propose ideas and have them challenged or critiqued. Not just to spew them out and see how many agree with our worldview.

Iron sharpening iron,
