Is this not considered an improvised nuclear attack? Given the size of the plant and the potential regional to global effects, we should be well beyond DEFCON 3.
 
Try to focus on what what we can know for sure.
Rubio better dam well be accurate in his post. Massively irresponsible for senior politician to speculate on something like this.

Do people living in the CONUS need to buy KI right now? How far would the damage from the reactor go if it should have an accident?

Chernoyble radiation releases went world wide. I was in AL at the time, and my background readings doubled, but it still wasn't enough to get concerned about. In this scenario it can be summed up in one word. Location--location--location.
 
If they are going to be so reckless to start shelling near a nuclear plant and endangering literally the world, something needs to be done. I'd rather die quickly from a nuclear blast, than slowly from fallout from a nuclear plant.

That's not the situation here. Even a full Chernobyl wouldn't have that impact on even most people relatively nearby. I am looking at this problem as an unnecessary risk and slightly increasing my concerns re: Russian willingness to escalate. Which is perhaps exactly what they want, who knows?

The country may be the leading nuclear nation in the world, but the military isn't. Any sane military would not be shelling a nuclear plant. Or stopping firefighters. If they wanted to cut off power, there are things called transformer stations or those little things coming from the plant called wires that can be cut.
