This is more than likely coincidental and nothing to be concerned with. There is the historical act of consulates in adversarial nations burning docs prior to engaging in war.
I suppose the thing to do is to just keep an eye out for similar activities at other Chinese consulates in the next day or so. As well as other warning signs to escalation of hostilities.
The could very honestly just be burning old doc which have reached their dispose on date.
It’s just curious and it is what we’re here for.

Probably coincidental. But certainly something to look at.
 
One of the commenters who lives near there said the internet was down for 8 hours around the time of the event. Pretty strange

The US has ordered China to close its consulate in Houston, Texas, by Friday - a move described as "political provocation" by Beijing.

The US State Department said the decision was taken "in order to protect American intellectual property".

But China's foreign ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said it was "outrageous and unjustified".

Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., on Wednesday described the Chinese consulate in Houston, Texas, which was forced to close Tuesday night, as “the central node of a massive spy operation,” in an interview on Fox Business.

“This consulate is basically a front,” Rubio told “Mornings With Maria” the morning after the consulate was ordered to close “to protect American intellectual property and Americans' private information,” according to the State Department.

“It’s kind of the central node of a massive spy operation — commercial espionage, defense espionage, also influence agents to try to influence Congress,” Rubio added. “They use businessmen as fronts in many cases to try to influence members of Congress and other political leaders at the state and local level. So it’s long overdue that it be closed. What’ll happen is the secretary of state, probably already has démarched the ambassador, called him in, told him we are going to do this, told him why. Given their agents, that we know who they are, 72 hours to leave the country. If they don't leave within 72 hours they’ll be arrested as spies."

To bad we can't "Storm The Castle".

Invading a consulate or embassy is an act of war yes? They are"sovereign soil" are they not?

That is what is holding us back from going in arresting them all/deport them back to China and ran sack their information.

Because the land an embassy or consulate stands on is considered to be that countries sovereign territory, yes, immediate act of war. Also, if we were going to do this the entire world would condemn us, including our allies.
