It’s also not a good idea to have civilian combatants either because this motivates the sentiment that committing war crimes is justified. Neither of the belligerents have clean hands.
I am sure the Territorial Defense teams of citizens are more than likely being savage as well, but if Russians were not there with guns there would be no one to be savage to. They get less scrutiny in my opinion. It would be like someone breaking into my home and threatening my family with harm and being criticized for how I dispatched the person that broke into my home. When you come into my home and do harm to me or my family, the gloves are off and everything is on the table. But, I will say, the mistreatment of those that are captured or who surrender is unforgivable and needs to be scrutinized with the same vigor as the civilian deaths we are seeing. So, yes, both sides I am sure have dirty hands in this. But, none of this happens if Russia does not invade. So, they get the lion's share of scrutiny and blame in my opinion.

Great to see the level reduced. Probably will be at blue for a good while.
True. I wonder what has changed that the level has been reduced though. It seems like things are more on the ramping up stages than not. I guess the official announcement will explain.

The Russians are retreating/reassessing/regrouping. The chemical weapons attack predicted by western intelligence has yet to materialize. We cannot remain at DEFCON 3 for an extended period of time, so the level has been reduced until such time as the situation warrants an increase again.

The western media has a tendency to fear-monger through propaganda. I honestly don’t understand how they get away with publishing so much BS. A chemical weapons attack at this day and age is such a high war crime, that a country with a stature such as Russia would NOT be stupid enough to use them, lest they face a massive retaliation militarily, and complete and total outcry from the world. Chemical weapons are only a viable solution when the cost of losing is so grave that the benefits outweigh the massive risks. It’s not a weapon that just gets used without an endgame. The same goes for a nuclear weapon, tactical, or city-buster alike.

so, what do we think the western response will be to this massacre? obviously more sanctions, but this could end up with more than that
Earlier today I thought it might escalate but after seeing the dramatic new map of the conflicted areas and Russian withdrawal now I don’t see it escalating.
Sanctions yes, more equipment to Ukraine yes.
If it is true Russia has really quit the west and north and ceased offensive operations. Then probably not much more than sanctions, equipment and a public relations front to highlight the “Russian war crimes”
If Russia keeps bombing Odessa and appears to still want to take the entire Black Sea coast well then I don’t know.
Depending on if and how many war atrocities are revealed and verified will determine how much more the fighting continues and the terms of any negotiated outcome.

Gotcha. Was wondering if a particular event or series of events had happened that I had missed in all the reports. So just a general sense that all involved have stepped back from the precipice a bit and shelved the nuke at any minute stance. Will be nice if that holds. Keep up the good work.

This website looks better in blue anyway.

Why London is fiercely blocking UN SecCouncil meeting that Russia is trying to arrange on whatever happened in Bucha?
What they are trying to hide?
So the idea is that people were slaughtered and left laying around to make Russia look bad for a war that 99% of the world already condemns and is sanctioning them over? The idea was to make the world sympathetic to the Ukrainians so that they would get more aid? Maybe they were slaughtered to improve poll numbers for an upcoming election? Or.....Russia did what Russia/Soviet Union has historically been known to do. Amid mountains of evidence, to think that Russia is just the poor fall guy is a bit out there.

The British establishment have a lot of money tied up in the Ukraine. Big contracts were signed prior to the invasion. They have also taken it upon themselves to be the biggest anti-Russian, western antagonists. It is a good way of deflecting the many crimes they committed during the pandemic.

Many people seem to have a problem with talking about all the skulduggery that went on in Ukraine. It wasn't that long ago the British media were calling Zelensky corrupt, and highlighting all the card carrying Nazi's that reside in the Ukraine.

Yeah it’s ironic they were screaming the loudest two months ago. Now France is more involved.
As far as SC meetings why?
Russia has no problem refusing to respect the international court decisions when convenient. The last emergency special security council meetings was nothing but a media sideshow for Russia that produced nothing but unsubstantiated claims about bio weapons.

Burnt bodies and a well established record of Russian actions in war are all I need.

Bad stuff happens in war. Innocents are killed. Atrocities happen. War is the ultimate human folly. I won't take no moral high ground or be selective with my rage; for both sides have committed terrible atrocities. That is what happens when Humans are pushed to the extremes. I would also like to hear what the Russians have to say on the matter. Did their soldiers do that? It is a distinct possibility that they did; that their under trained, low educated conscripts totally lost control and committed those heinous acts. Or did the Ukrainians use bodies that had died in the fighting (it is a warzone after all) and moved them into positions that created the images we now see splashed across our screens?

I have zero belief in the narrative the west is spinning. As I pointed out on a previous post: It wasn't that long ago the British media had it in for Zelensky. What changed? How has the little comedian, and his country, gone from corrupt Nazi sympathisers, to bastions of freedom and virtue in the span of a proverbial eye blink? I think these are valid questions to be asked.

It could be. Crying that a whole nation is inhabited by nazis that are a threat to the Russian people has just worn thin with me there’s been no evidence of that.
As you say in war everyone can be prone to doing horrible things. We listened to during the work up to this war that Ukrainians are killing civilians in the breakaway provinces. UN investigators and Amnesty international did conclude there were but the truth of the matter was it was they were committed by both sides.
That popular fatality number of 14000 people killed in the region and so frequently laid at the feet of the fascist Ukrainians was actually divided somewhat equally between Ukraine militias or military, separatist rebels, and a slightly smaller civilian population killed in frequent intense urban fighting between them.
Or the bio weapons accusation where the only proof provided was the existence labs and pathogens samples indigenous to the region.
These labs weren’t secret squirrel labs they were registered acknowledged labs that the international community knew existed.
I do not mean this as an attack or harsh rebuttal to you by any means. It’s an explanation of my rational of my opinion.
As far as what likely happened in Bucharest. I came to some certainty last night when the region was opened up to what seems to be quite a lot of reporters.
If these bodies were staged and desecrated by the Ukrainian military it would be a huge risk to stage this in a populated areas and then allow international reporters into the area and hope that not one reporter didn’t find one or more civilians making statements that the bodies were staged by Ukrainians.
Anyway that’s why i don’t put faith in Russian accusations right now.
