For what, exactly?
The “speculation” is that they want to close the gap between Homel to Kharkiv to east of Mariupol. I’m just guessing here but push down to the reservoirs and block Ukrainian army retreat of resupply. Destroy the bulk the Ukrainian army or at very least put pressure on them so the will be reluctant to press the fight in the east.
That only my suspicion though

Anyone can boast. The broader the boasting, the less credible the speaker.
The focus of the U.S. DoD must remain on defense, not about "who we are afraid of."
USA (and every country) will always have enemies and enemy threats. The point of defense if how you protect your nation from them. That's all. Leave the chest-beating to the hot-air politicians, please.

Nah, it's time to tell Putin we are doing stuff on our own terms not theirs. it's time to quit tip-toeing around Putin. It's frankly sickening that we do.

Just like so much of the reporting of this war it is hard to know the overall truth.
But this certainly has some bad historic overtones to it busses instead of trains. Camps in the east etc. We’ll see
I read the article and I think by “filtration” they meant processing refugees because people are apparently are able to leave the camps and join family members in Russia. It’s still awful because they weren’t exactly given a choice in the matter.

"There's nothing about Mr. Putin that we fear..."

"Except his nuclear weapons, dontchya know."

And still the world is too scared of actually taking it to Russia
Too many ppl just idling watching others die and there country being devastated .
Sanctioning Russia is doing nothing ,
Sending weapons is useless, only way to stand up to a thug is too take him and his followers out .
Or is everyone too scared of being nuked ..one day it might happen but not today .
If all the countries banded together may be Putin would be scared wouldn't that be something
Or are you all just going to wait til he rocks up to your neighbour and starts killing people .

1 - Sanctions have destroyed Russia's economy
2 - The weapons have been very helpful to Ukrainian forces, allowing them to easily destroy enemy armoured vehicles and low flying aircraft
3 - We should be very scared of being nuked, if we all banded together to attack Russian forces, you would probably see a nuclear exchange from a desperate man trying to stem the flow of NATO troops into Russia.
4 - It's unlikely he'll go to war with a NATO member (presuming "neighbour" refers to NATO member states). Remember, he knows that if he goes to war with NATO he'll either lose, or have a nuclear holocaust. He would only go to war with NATO if he felt very threatened (e.g. NATO troops piling into Ukraine).

Stay the course, make adjustments, keep applying pressure.
Or send the troops in and launch the bombers and get ready to fire nukes deep into Moscow. That’s not a good option.

Putin’s not crazy his mind is atrophied, yes. He has created some fantasy land in his mind where the world gives a shit about Russia’s opinion and power. Whatever influence Russia might have had in the international community has vaporized. The stench of it only remains in places like Iran Syria and dprk. It’s left China and India with a foul odor of their affiliation with Putins Russia in their memories.

He has succeeded in proving his nation isn’t a first world superpower but a second world raw material export dependent nation who Maintains power by military bluster and force.

Putin has secured his place in history, which is what he always wanted. Problem is, his place is next to Hitler, Stalin, and Mao.

Putin used to be at least reasonable. But my theory is that his age has made him long for the "good old days". Unlike others, though, he has the power to at least try and bring them back.

Instead he will have destroyed on nation at the least and responsible to the deaths of thousands of his own country men and set his country in the last century.
I’ve always tolerated Putin being for Russia, that was always between him and Russia.

Western leadership should not make the mistake of thinking public support to support Ukraine means anything regarding the integrity and trust in their leadership the people have for them.
It has been their weakness and lack of leadership that allowed this to happen.

So let me get this right
Valid question
1 sanctions are on Russia now yet come the end of the conflict
Would western business scramble to grab cheap business from Russia or would the sanctions last for decades
I surely doubt that the West would ignore cheap materials from Russia after the conflict.
2 what happens to Putin
Does the West just ignore the killings and invasion or do they hope someone in Russia can topple him and restart the rest of Russia.
3 trust with Russia is broken I do not think any country besides China would want to trade with them
4 do we have a never ending cycle of investing in weapons for defense in case he or a new player starts something .
5 if the western leaders are branding Putin as a war criminal
How will they process this charge .
Ww2 criminals are still being tracked today and brought to trail
I see your point about the nuclear exchange yet i can't see anyone wanting there country attacked in a exchange which would happen to every country if there was ..
Where do you stop ? How do you arrest Putin when in took the world to invade germany before hitler was stopped ?
Cheers

I truly don't know much about Ukraine's government. I compare this to Kuwait. Their government doesn't matter. They shouldn't have been invaded.

Putin isn't being arrested. He will either survive this or be deposed by his own people. But he isn't appearing before any Court. There will be no 21st century Nuremberg Trial.
